This Friday is my last day at @HashiCorp, after nearly 13 years, all starting with @mitchellh and a crazy dream. I'm thankful to all the amazing investors, employees, customers, partners, and community members who joined for the ride, it's been a blast! linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…

FYI you don't have to keep up with all the AI stuff, it's mostly noise just pick one tool (probably claude code/codex) and make the stuff you want to make. you'll find it's a lot easier than you expected. you'll get new ideas have fun and don't let the panic run your life

chronicles of a new dad pt 4 after a long 4 weeks, our baby is home from the nicu. we can finally start being normal parents. at first, he always looked through me. now he seems to look at me. I don’t think he recognizes anyone by sight yet, but he does seem to recognize voice. they really do just eat, sleep, and poop. he is starting to have a 2-4 hour window where he’s awake and observant. we try to play with him during this time. it is not easy being a mom, especially when you’re breastfeeding. every 3 hours, rain or shine. my wife is a super hero. I try not to use the pacifier, but I don’t know why. I think it feels like cheating, and not solving his underlying problem. I don’t know, everyone seems to have strong opinions. we’ve had our first pediatrician visit and I can’t help but think about how he’s already being graded in life, fresh outside the womb. percentiles, growth curves. I guess this is where the race starts.

chronicles of a new dad pt 3 our baby came 4 weeks early so we’ve been in the NICU. he needs a little more time to grow. the nurses and doctors are some of the nicest people i’ve met. they are warm people who are rooting for our boy to go home. modern medicine is magician work. I have to remind myself that a century ago, we wouldn’t have predicted an early birth nor been able to do anything about it. day to day can get frustrating. It feels like our boy is being put through an obstacle course, and being held to a higher standard than a term baby. Oxygen, feeding, breathing - it’s a grind. despite it all, we try our best to be present parents. Typically we spend 8-2pm there, and then 8pm at night. We feed him, and share stories. A lot of it is when he’s sleeping, but we’re hoping he gets to learn our voice and recognize us eventually. Guilt is creeping in already. It’s weird to go home and get real sleep while someone else is taking care of our boy. Life feels a little bit on standstill. I’m kinda able to work, but it’s mostly our engineer who is holding down the fort right now. I want him to be perfectly healthy, but I hope this all ends soon.

Born a pandemic baby in 2022. Your first memory is watching your 43-year-old father put on his 850-fill down Arc’teryx puffer to take you to the Prospect Park playground. What kind of person does that make you.

After seeing several snowed-in stations last week, I put together a quick site with a best guess at whether a given Citibike dock is working or not based on GBFS showing how often available docks change: doesmydock.work

Friends often ask me for NYC neighborhood recommendations. But once you add multiple jobs, roommates, or a partner, it gets hard to tell what's convenient and what's not. So I built a tool to help with this. Check it out and let me know what you think! (link below)
