@YankeesFiles I think you should start Thursday and if you play a team u only have 3 times at home all year, or play outside, you have Friday off Eveything else is utter woke nonsense

I understand why it happens but it is funny to me that there are three different Openings Day. 1. You are the Yankees or the Giants 2. You are going to play baseball outside and need Friday as a possible day to play a rescheduled game 3. You can play baseball inside

@YankeesFiles If you really believe in the volpe sample before he the diving attempt vs Tampa it’s definitely him. That sample size was unfortunately being carried by the torpedo bat week but still something to latch onto

To all the comments asking about Wheeler and Cole: I’d like to see what a 35-year-old pitcher coming back from a major injury looks like before I say he’s a true ace again If they come back like deGrom, they will be back on the list

@bluelemxnade Thats fair. Look at josh hart this year. very close to 40, but every team still dares him to shoot. He will never take and make enough 3's to justify gaurding

@l51402 The idea that a player surpassing the arbitrary 40% from 3 mark makes them a good shooter without considering their shot types and volume

@YankeesFiles I feel like their rotation is a sneaky issue early on, especially if you think Luis Gil will struggle to get whiffs again

A common thing I’ve seen is people saying MLB players in the Olympics means the WBC won’t continue and this has come out of nowhere. MLB has never indicated this in any way. The plan was always for the next WBC to happen in 2029 barring something unexpected.

Could Gerrit Cole potentially be able to start a game prior to late May or early June? I think based off today, the answer is probably yes. But should he? Absolutely not. It’s not just about being able to start a game. But can Gerrit Cole recover, bounce back, repeat his delivery and keep doing it through every fifth day for months at a time without a setback? There’s mountains of evidence that starting pitchers need 14-18 months after TJ surgery before they can reliably enter an MLB rotation. The Yankees and Cole are doing the right thing by sticking to the timeline no matter what.
Max Greenfield@GreenfieldMax18

Gerrit Cole topped out at 98.7 on a sinker, threw a few knuckle curves, a few sliders. Stuff looked crisp, command a bit shaky. Good to see him back.

I think Jeff Passan is a very good person to have as the face of reliable baseball media. There aren’t many reporters out there that you can trust 100 percent when news breaks. Jeff Passan is one of them. If he says something newsworthy, we all take it seriously and with good reason. But as good as he is at breaking news, I’ve always thought his analysis of the game itself was lacking. To watch a game as fun as the one played last night and use the lead of your story to embarrass the umpire is the wrong way to go about it. Umpires miss calls all the time. But this was a unique elimination game being played by some of the biggest stars in the sport. That should have been the story.
Rational Yankees Fan@rationalyankee

I think it’s super soft of Jeff Passan to write an article like this without even acknowledging how hard it is to be an umpire. Mason Miller throws one of the nastiest sliders in MLB. That pitch is a strike for 59.5 feet before it drops below the zone at the last second. Was it a bad call? Yeah. Was it an egregious call? No. It happens every game. It’s unfortunate that it happened to end a team’s WBC hopes, but that’s baseball.

"100% it was a ball." The spectacular USA-Dominican Republic WBC semifinal game was marred by blown calls -- including one that ended the game. I spoke with Geraldo Perdomo, Juan Soto and DR GM Nelson Cruz about it. Here's what they said, free at ESPN: espn.com/mlb/story/_/id…

Biggest news here is that MLB players are likely going to be able to participate in the 2028 Olympics. If that’s been public for a while, I’ve been out of the loop on it. I think if the Olympic Committee knew that, they’d likely have allowed more than 6 countries to be represented at LA2028. That said, the eligibility requirements for the Olympics are likely way stricter than the WBC. You need to be a citizen of the country you are playing for. Team Italy would have a few issues with that. Still a really great thing for baseball either way.
