To answer a few questions, yes the top part was tied and bleached. I’ll make time one day to record videos of how I make them. It’s a messy but fun process. 😊

@WillBeischel That’s good progress, I’ve been applying for a year now, close to 100 applications - a few responded with regrets, most of them just never even acknowledged receiving the applications. Only one zoom interview. No job, nothing.

My first academic job market cycle has now officially been unsuccessful. 2 phone interviews, 1 campus visit, but 0 offers. Hundreds of hours and dozens of applications and nothing. And I’m supposed to do this all again? Several times maybe?? Send help.

Around this time 9 yrs ago I had reached the conclusion that I would probably never get an academic job. It was the fall of my 9th year of grad school, I'd sent out what felt like hundreds (probably 40-50?) of applications to tenure track jobs and post-docs, and had nothing. 🧵
