@lizisamused I think for women it's more about her friends preferences than herself. If her friends date only 6ft+ she's naturally inclined to do it.

The height requirement in dating is painfully stupid. If a woman wants a guy who's taller than her, fine. Plenty of guys also want a girl who's shorter than they are. But wanting 6'+ strikes me as a trophy thing for women. I don't buy it's an innate preference because older generations didn't focus on this nearly as much. It was *nice* if your boyfriend was tall; it wasn't a requirement. And I've heard some horror stories from men: a girl showing up to the date, saying he's too short, & RUNNING AWAY. Women asking how tall the guy is as the convo opener on an app. Women can't claim they're the less superficial sex & then reject the vast majority of their dating pool. What especially bugs me is women who say everyone's allowed preferences. Wanting a guy who treats you well? Fine. Rejecting anyone who doesn't tower over you, regardless of other positive traits? Odd. And the dehumanizing language toward short men is insane. Claiming tall guys have better personalities, short guys are dangerous or angry, etc. What's especially wild: data shows height doesn't strongly impact a man's # of sexual partners. But this may change if women won't even give the 5'9" (literally average) guy a chance. The 5'9" Gen X & millennial men I knew did just fine. But Gen Z men increasingly have to impress online as opposed to IRL, so height becomes a more important factor. Even IRL, if the trend among women is to view any guy under 6' or so as a "manlet," that impacts most men. It's odd to watch women complain about objectification...and then objectify men to the point only 15% of women would give a guy who's 5'8" a shot on a dating app. I feel for young people. It's a different world now...

@idmpotent I mean these mrks may or may not help in the future but they do reflect how disciplined you were in the past. I still regret not being fully focused on my studies from 9th. All that algebra and trigonometry may not help directly in the futurebut they do help sharpen your mind.

@Pulkit_D_Sharma I want to be bootstrapped but building big tech requires capital+ Ivy league background. India can't build own google or palantir at best we can build SMB Saas.

@lab_pixel12661 bro try everything happens, we are doing it. I can't tell about deals that are not signed but it is not as difficult as people say, even though this is my 5th venture and 4 were flop but this one is on a good tragedy and funding is least of our worry as of now.

A hero of Indians is someone getting a good job, that's what people idealise here. No one is thinking of building their own google or palantir. We need a cultural shift in India, there is no dream big enough which can't be achieved!

The least faithful men are the extremes: super successful OR unemployed. The most faithful men have upper-middle class jobs. The least faithful women are those with the least prestigious work. The most faithful women are housewives.

@ryuzaki2401 This is such a stupid argument, I am confident you’ve never prepared for any of the exams that you’re talking about. These Olympiad prep are equal parts of ‘iq’ and ‘raw skills’ (or whatever I understand them to be). I’m from the JEE circles and there are so many people who

a lot of imo/ioi/ipho medalists end up at places like google, meta, openai, jane street, jump trading, citadel, etc. most of them pursue research or academia after studying at universities like mit, stanford, oxford, cambridge, princeton, etc. some also go on to become founders of deep tech or ai companies. this predominantly asserts that iq always triumphs over raw skills. the best thing a child can do for a career in research or tech is to grind math and physics and solve problems on codeforces. it also shows why jee advanced is a great examination. it filters for iq. ignorant people in india call it useless, but there's a massive intersection between jee advanced top rankers and olympiad medalists. and it's evident that the jee advanced top rankers consistently end up at hfts or pursuing phds from the world's best institutions.

What do the smartest kids in the world do when they grow up? I did the largest study of ~18,000 International Olympiad medalists (IMO, IOI and IPhO) over the last 25yrs, arguably the sharpest analytical minds of the world in high school, to see where they ended up and traced ~50% of them. Founders of ~20 unicorns and ~7 decacorns and ~10 billionaires: OpenAI, Cursor, Stripe, Databricks, Perplexity, Ethereum, Cognition, Hyperliquid, Fireworks, Modal, Quora, Parallel, Cartesia, Wispr Most kids went to MIT, a whopping 12% of them, followed by Cambridge (7%) and Sharif (3%)! The career paths they chose (of those who graduated) were: — 36% Academia (professors) — 26% Other — 22% in Software / Tech — 12% in Quant / Finance — 5% Founders! The biggest employer was Google, by far, at 6%. Others interesting tidbits were: — 47 of them work at Jane Street (#3) — 38 at OpenAI (#5) — 15 at Anthropic — 8 at Cognition — 6 at Isomorphic Labs Olympiaders were 1500x more likely to be billionaires and 4000x more likely to be unicorn founders than the average person!
