@sarahrees I did cringe when I heard that. Considering how many panels, boards, meetings, conferences, etc etc have you given your time to in order to effect change, not just stop/shutdown rhetoric! YEARS of talking & listening

For the record, I work on forest matters every single day, I work to advance genuinely sustainable forestry and vital conservation measures and I’m sick of being referred to as ‘anti-logging’, I advocate for good forestry and forest policy. That’s all.

@EuanRitchie1 Totally agree! Supposed to be a fun celebration of species and educational to boot…. I’ve been disheartened by some of the weird barracking and booing 🤷‍♂️

Championing your favourite species is a bit of fun and can be useful for raising awareness. Personally attacking others is not cool, and doesn’t aid species conservation. Be fun and useful.

This absolute whopper of a Mountain Ash. It’s right near where I recorded a dawn chorus for A NEW EPISODE OF NATURE TRACK. No human voices, no music, just the sounds of a forest of giants buff.ly/3pwf76t

@BiodiversityGuy 100 years ago we did the same course. Some things lacking that would’ve helped big time were super practical things: 4x4 course, first aid, field schedule planning…. I spend more time driving than anything else!! Starting bird call ID in first year and cont all thru….?

@wtb_Michael @speechleyish @DrNatOsborne @freyamthomas assuming severe fire, in wet forest: overstorey ash eucalypt seedlings will establish abundantly, dominant tall shrubs will probably be acacia dealbata and pomaderris aspera. surviving resprouting plants will resestablish, eg olearia argophylla.
