A much needed @WFP_Sudan convoy is travelling to #El_Fasher to provide lifesaving food and nutritional supplies. MSF welcomes this important step after people have endured months of starvation as fighting escalated and RSF laid siege to the area. It’s crucial that the convoy is now allowed to reach its destination safely. People in El Fasher, including many who fled #Zamzam after the RSF offensive on the camp, have been cut off for too long. The siege and violence have made it virtually impossible to bring in food, medicines, and other essential supplies. Water is reportedly increasingly scarce. #MSF reiterates its call for civilians to be spared and for humanitarian organisations to be given access to deliver aid, including by air if necessary. The humanitarian situation in and around El Fasher, already a catastrophic one, is worsening by the day. MSF has halted outpatient treatment for 5,000 malnourished children. However, it is still operating an 80-bed hospital to treat children at the greatest risk of dying. It would take 100 trucks per month to feed the camp at a ration of just 500 calories/day. 🧵4/4

In a press release today, MSF's Head of Emergency Operations Michel-Olivier Lacharité said, “In the last few days, we've seen some positive signs, with trucks arriving after months of almost complete blockade around the camp. However, these quantities are insufficient.”🧵3/4

For months, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has negotiated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which controls the territory around Zamzam Camp, and with the other warring parties, to try to secure the delivery of supplies to the camp, which is home to about 450,000 people. 🧵2/4

We also urge the warring parties to protect hospitals and civilians, and to allow civilians to safely leave the city if they so wish.

We urge the warring parties to ensure rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access so that life-saving supplies can be brought into the city - this includes from across borders and across frontlines.

Saudi is the only hospital left in El Fasher with surgical capacity & the ability to treat the war wounded, but there are not enough beds, drugs or surgical equipment. Since 10 May, MSF-supported hospitals have treated over 1,781 war wounded; 278 have died from their injuries.

🔴 On Thursday 27 June at 11am, Saudi hospital in El Fasher was hit by RSF shelling again - the 9th time a hospital in the city has been attacked since the fighting escalated on 10 May. Luckily, there were no victims but the facility sustained some damage.

Nous sommes horrifiés par la nouvelle de l’attaque dans le camp de #Jabalia, où l’on rapporte un grand nombre de victimes suite à une frappe menée par l'armée israélienne. De nombreux blessés sont arrivés à l'hôpital Al Shifa où nos équipes ont aidé à leur prodiguer des soins.

Notre équipe de psychologues a pu commencer à fournir des services de santé mentale à 2 groupes prioritaires au sein de la population de #Derna : ceux qui ont tout perdu/vivent désormais dans des abris temporaires & le personnel médical ou paramédical et les bénévoles.

De nombreux patients sont encore sous le choc. Certains enfants refusent de boire de l’eau par peur de se noyer. Des patients se sont plaints de ne pas pouvoir dormir entre 2 h 30 et 5 heures du matin – heure de la vague meurtrière.

#Libye : ce qui m’a le plus frappé à #Derna, c’est l’ampleur du désastre. La destruction des deux barrages dans la nuit du 10 septembre a complètement détruit le centre de la ville et emporté tout et tout le monde en quelques heures.
