M6TOLL INCIDENT UPDATE
Apologies to all those affected by the incident on the M6toll this evening.
Traffic is being turned around and released. This is taking some time, but we will get to you as soon as we can.
I will keep you updated.
Our NHS is broken beyond repair. Insufficiently funded by numerous governments. Trusts that spend our money in the most thoughtless ways. By the way, Mum is brighter today for being able to rest properly and having the drugs work. #NHSbroken#nowaytotreattheelderly
Other patients were in the room with her throughout the day, some with symptoms of diarrhoea. The nurses work under ridiculous conditions. Who would want to work in A&E with patients and relatives constantly complaining?
It hasn’t been the best bank holiday weekend ever. Mum (81 and with COPD) was taken ill at 8.45pm on Saturday evening. She called me and I went straight round. Temp of 38.6. Suspecting a pneumonia/sepsis called 999. Said someone was on their way, but if we could get her to A&E …
@sainsburys Problems with the online grocery website? I’m trying to finish my order for first thing tomorrow and there is obviously a problem. Can I have some idea if it will be sorted before 11pm tonight?
@sainsburys Really awful service today with my online shop. Only received my perishables .Advised rest would be delivered but no-one can tell me when. First part arrived at 7.45am, still waiting for the rest. No-one from the store has contacted me. #mrsAngry#DreadfulService
@carolvorders@LBC This is a subject very close to my heart. In 2022, we sat with our Great Aunt for 9 weeks whilst she starved to death at the age of 90. It was the most awful experience, with her asking several times a day why was she still here? Heartbreaking for all concerned.
Thank you for all of your messages and calls on the show today on @LBC 🙏🏼
We spoke politics.
We spoke NHS.
AND we talked about assisted dying. I wanted to talk about this.
I have decided that if it is possible to do so, and in the correct circumstances I would choose assisted dying.
I told the story about my Mum. We were very close. Always together, she lived with me all through my adult life, until 2017 when she died of terminal cancer. She was in a lot of pain. She died at home with us. She, like everyone else, wasn't given a choice of how to die.
In Holland assisted dying is legal.
In the UK it is not.
If you assist someone even to go to Switzerland to the Dignitas clinic then you could be prosecuted for murder or manslaughter.
Every single call today, and thank you for trusting me with your raw stories, said they hoped a law would be passed in the UK in favour of assisted dying (with strict controls).
The Health Select Committee delivers a report about this subject next month.
Thank you for listening. It means the world ❤️💔🙏🏼
Afternoon there's a surprise, the UK government has ignored mental health with the mental health bill not included in the #KingsSpeech, it’s now highly unlikely the Mental Health Act will be reformed until further notice I am not a politician but constantly over the years I have been told by people within politics "yes we need to do something yes there needs to be changes" I wish each one of the decision makers could spend a weekend with somebody who has mental Health issues
they need be there experience the heartbreak for the carer's go and also spend a night & day in a secure unit end of rant!
