COLUMBIA: America’s Forgotten Goddess Virtual art show starts here 🧵 NYC nightlife icon LADY ALCHEMY returns to regular artistic work for the first time since 2017. Published daily on X. July 4–10. Over seven days, pieces of a new work will be released on a single theme: Columbia. Lady Columbia is America’s Goddess. Her laurel symbolises civic virtue and the triumph of liberty, the olive branch, peace, and the sword, military strength and justice. These are not hollow abstractions, but defining characteristics of the nation and a trinity of symbiotic principles that maintain a delicate equilibrium. Without the olive branch, the sword is destructive. Without the sword, the olive branch risks our safety. Without the laurel, we simply aren’t American. For a long time after she was popularized in the 18th Century, all Americans knew Lady Columbia and what she represented. But with the arrival of Lady Liberty in the next century, Columbia’s light began to dim. And with her slow descent into obscurity, she took with her important founding ideas of her nation. Where Lady Liberty represents one foundational American principle, Lady Columbia embodies the whole of the American ethos, our guiding virtues, and our responsibilities to one another. In this new series, Lady Alchemy embodies a female archetype - a theme she explored for years at New York’s most exclusive venues. A fixture of the downtown scene, she became known for her transfixing performances at New York City’s iconic late night theatre The Box, where she entertained A-listers like Lindsay Lohan, Cara Delevingne, and @elonmusk. Her work explored the feminine form and alchemical themes by uniting the truth with the beautiful. In this Lady Columbia series, we explore the truth and beauty of the most iconic American allegory, and her promise to her people. Through imagery and costumery, this series will explore the historical aesthetics of an unashamed maternal beauty and female archetype who represents the whole of the American spirit. This new Lady Alchemy series will take you on a daily journey, exploring this new work and an American icon in anticipation of America’s coming 250th birthday. On November 22, 1987, a pirate broadcaster hijacked the signals of two television stations in Chicago, USA. The intruder wore a mask of the character Max Headroom and successfully overrode a transmission of the British sci-fi series Doctor Who for 90 seconds. The figure spoke with distorted audio and was filmed being struck with a flyswatter before engineers cut the feed. The perpetrator was never identified.

@ladyalchemy @XCaseFiles I’ll have to double check that. But it was on the Discovery ID channel. And I believe it to be similar to a “caught on camera” type show, where they used cam footage to prove it was intentional. I’ll check that out this evening.
