@mean_field_zane Frats have also changed drastically since the 90s/early 00s. They would drive around our college town just throwing bricks and dipcups and open beers at people. Now they play board games and shit

One thing I have noticed here is that the frat brothers are often more interested in and open to learning ideas about the world than the artsy leftist humanities slackers.

@pancakes4brina When I was in Nashville as a young man, they would talk about being in the Dirty South, and I didn't understand it because I had to drive really far north to get there. But it is more Southern, in many ways, than many places in Texas.

it’s very funny to see all the people screaming “just pay a living wage!” in the comments bc… that’s what this is for? Americans already tip around this much. you were the ones that were going to go to a foreign country and not follow the cultural norm. tipping culture is not going to be “solved” by tourists refusing to tip, you’re just being an asshole.

Some restaurants have planned an automatic 20% tip for U.S. visitors. 💰🇺🇸

@MattisRedacted It's a neat little novelty but the video is sped up a whole lot, and it still looks really slow. So not sure how practical it is? Not just looking for reasons since it's foreign, I just have some reservations I guess

It is not ok to assault someone over words. It is not ok to shoot someone for punching you. Both can be true.

@TheNotoriousHRT no. it's not. employers are supposed to pay their workers, not the customers in a direct fashion. tips are for above and beyond service, not bog standard and below. all it's doing is advertising which places i will not be visiting during or AFTER the world cup.

@sammiecarrots 100%. I always say the best thing to do in Austin is drive straight through it and go to San Antonio.

Struck anytime I have to be in Austin and San Antonio on the same day how much better the Vibe is in SATX … maybe I’m biased as a borderlander but I feel like the greatness of Texas cities is proportional to how much Spanish you need to speak to get around
