This is a trading post... trust me :) The year was 2006: Rafael Nadal, at just 20, was already the reigning king of clay, defending Roland Garros champion, and nearly unbeatable on the surface. Then came a 19-year-old Serbian kid: Novak Djokovic, facing Nadal for the first time on clay. Down two sets, he retired with a sore back. But what he said afterward turned heads even more than the match: “I was in control. Nadal is the best, but he’s not unbeatable.” As a tennis purist, I thought it was arrogant. The media mocked him. In 2007, Nadal beat him again in straight sets. In 2008, Novak finally took a set, but still lost. In 2009, he played one of his best matches, had two match points, and still lost to Nadal. In 2010, Nadal dominated the tour. They never met on clay. Then came 2011, Djokovic finally broke through, beating Nadal in Madrid, then again in Rome. He beat him seven times that year, including wins on all surfaces. Eventually, Djokovic became the only player to ever beat Nadal twice at Roland Garros and 9 times on clay (most ever Head-to-Head). He kept his word. He said Nadal was beatable, and he showed that it can be done. What began as “delusional confidence” became reality, but it took five long years. Trading often feels the same. You get close, only to fall short. Again and again. But over time, with the right mindset and process, things eventually start to click. Like Minervini once said after toiling for 6 years: “I then made more in a single week than I ever dreamed of making in a year.” If you’re still grinding, keep going. You're probably a lot closer than you think.
