@TheKevinDalton @mrmikeMTL You have it backwards. Supply/demand curve and all that. You don't see honor around because it has become too expensive. No-one wants to pay the price, total demand destruction.

Dang, a good reminder that there is always an element of risk with firearms. Been training with SF dudes for years and even with guys who are 20+ years in every range session starts with a safety brief where safety and emergency procedures are discussed youtu.be/JwF0gmLhHPg?si…

Found it so cool that the Morita rifles from Starship Troopers were all built from special bullpup Ruger Mini 14 kits. Some with an under-barrel Ithaca 37 as well.

My judgement: the Covid period is being used as precedent. Everything: surveillance, censorship, distance until vaxx, mask, defer, close, restrict, ration, spend, inflate, the works. Everything. It's the new model for a new age of totalitarian corporatism.

Cool story bro.. Many, many moons ago, another place and time, I used to do a lot of scuba and mountain climbing.. (Back in Scotland where I grew up). We were diving various parts around the island of Skye from small boats. We were all out of bottom time for that day and were heading back to port when we spotted a pod of Orca. Having estimated their general direction we zoomed ahead, dropped anchor and all got in the water :) Snorkel only for no bubbles, we just hung out waiting for them. A female and her calf came right past me.. Touch close. She eyeballed me and slowed down just a touch. I gave her a pat and she went on her way. Incredible animals.. This was a university club and we had a bunch of marine biologists. They assured us all beforehand that Orca don't eat humans and the worst thing that *might* happen is a bit of a taste test until they figure out you are not a seal. Well no-one got gnawed on and everyone got to pet an Orca.. lol. ps they are frikkin huge.

Everytime I went to Seaworld after that and would see the little girl stand next to the Orca with it's mouth open I could not help but to think to warn that girl. Don't do it, they look all nice and smiling. Trust me I've seen the real Orca's....and that is my Orca story.

OK, you guys wanted to hear my Orca story. I was living in Dana Point and met a guy with a nice boat. His wife and family were going to Catalina for the day and invited my girlfriend and I along. His kids were small about 8 and 10. We headed out and the kids were begging him...

If you still draw breath, you are a "fighting-age male". Just because you're not humping 120lbs for miles over broken terrain doesn't mean there aren't things you can't still do.

Yeah ok a little tongue in cheek but you may be onto something. Roller shutters.. Controlled by the local NWS office, hail on the horizon, roll them out to protect the panels. Could even integrate a sponge/squeegee affair to allow for automated panel cleaning. It's for the environment after all - destroyed panels can leach heavy metals like Cadmium into the dirt beneath them..

Another easy how-to: Properly mounting a scope is paramount to what you can expect out of it. Any barely perceived cant will absolutely be magnified at distance. Step 1: Level out the rifle. Find a perfectly flat spot on top of the action (not the scope) & use a bubble level. The more precise, the more accurate it’s going to be. A set of woodworking clamps & a bean bag can keep the rifle locked in place. Step 2: Hang a plum bob. If you don’t own one, a piece of string with a fishing weight will work. The entire goal is to use gravity to determine perfectly up & down with your vertical stadia line (in scope). Step 3: Mount & gently rotate your scope until the vertical line perfectly matches the plum bob line. The further out you do this, the better. 50 yards/ meters is ok, but 100+ is better. If you need to move the rifle, you need to double check it’s still level. Step 4: Torque your screws in a criss-cross (alternating X) pattern as to keep the tension even on both sides. Keep this same pattern whenever you tighten it. I’d recommend finger-tight, then re-checking scope alignment before torquing. Purchase vs expedient: There are firearms specific magnetic levels you can purchase, but even a small carpenter’s level can do the job in a pinch. The bubble level in my firearms tool kit came off a chainsaw jig that fell off.

I told you all this week. This is why they are looking to mandate registration for water heaters and AC units. They won't let you buy one without a mandatory registration that includes where it is being installed. So they can snitch you out to the local building departments.
Marc Joffe@marcjoffe

Bay Area Air District is back with a new version of its gas water heater ban. Our region has too many special purpose governments making life here more complicated and expensive than necessary. Let's get rid of at least some of them.
