Building an in-town check-in facility for Pearson in the Skywalk, connected to UP Express, could be a game changer. This was the model used by MTR’s Airport Express, where passengers can check their bags in town and take a 25 minute train ride to the airport at their leisure.

@_ChanFace I actually proposed these as an option during construction at King/Queen/Roncy as a means to maintain connectivity and reliability for buses from west of Humber into the core during an intersection closure. It became less necessary after timing coincided during pandemic.

@_ChanFace This is why HOV lanes on Lake Shore would actually be more effective - makes it unnecessary to navigate ramps.

HOV lanes are not gonna fix everything, but they are key to letting regional GO busses flow in and out of Union Station’s new bus terminal. It is unacceptable that busses routinely get stuck on the Gardiner or meters away from Union on ramps.

My @TorontoStar column this week: The good news about Toronto’s new traffic czar? He helped push for the tough choices that led to the only Toronto traffic fix that ever worked. Here’s what we should remember about the Pan Am Games transportation plan. thestar.com/opinion/contri…

@observinthecity Removing streetcar stops to meet TTC stop spacing standards is one of the most difficult things to do. In the meantime, six minute or better service on some corridors will reduce the probability of stopping at these lesser used, closely spaced stops.

What are we doing here? 170m between streetcar stops. It makes the service borderline unusable. The streetcar itself is 30m long.

The location of this horrific incident is in a Community Safety Zone, where automated speed enforcement could be installed, that is proven to reduce driver speeding, that may have prevented this horror.

But look here’s another six minutes later. That’s what our policy-based services — Ten Minute Network, Six Minute Subway, and with the 5YSP Six Minute Streetcar — is all about.

These were placed on subway platforms five years ago to remind us to keep our distance as we faced a challenging time - spotted one today and it’s now a reminder that we gotta stick together.

Will note that six minute streetcar service is part of TTC’s 5-Year Service Plan for 2024-2028 in years 4 and 5. This year’s budget has advanced its implementation for late this year on three routes - 505 Dundas, 511 Bathurst, and 512 St Clair before 7pm every day.

"The problem, as with most services in the city, is money, @larrylarry said. With the TTC’s existing streetcar fleet, he explained, the city could run five-minute service throughout Toronto — if it had the money to pay drivers." thestar.com/news/gta/toron…

That’s the painful part. All politics seems singular in dimensions. Intersectionality is key. No one is just one thing.

Identity politics is the worst as as a multidimensional minority and none of the targeting reflects who I am. This sucks.

Saying ‘food delivery dudes use bike lanes’ as though it’s an argument against them. We’ve created this parallel economy of precarious, risky gig work - damn straight those people should have safe routes. ‘I want my burger delivered to my door, but only via mixed traffic’. 🙄
