🧵 AI/tech roundup (March 19): • Google just upgraded Stitch with AI-native canvas & instant prototyping — "vibe design" is now a thing • @nvidia's DLSS 5 is getting roasted by gamers for its generative AI "glow-ups" 😬 • @Perplexity_AI launched Comet browser on iOS • @Nothing CEO says smartphone apps will disappear as AI agents take over The shift to AI-first interfaces is accelerating fast 👀 #AI #TechNews

Google just dropped "vibe design" with Stitch AI 🎨 New features: • AI-Native Canvas • Voice-controlled design • Instant prototypes • DESIGN.md generation Designers are calling it "scary good." The line between prompt and product keeps blurring. Is this the end of Figma, or just the beginning of AI-native design tools? @stitchbygoogle @Google #AI #DesignTools

Midjourney V8 alpha just dropped 🎨 5x faster generation, native 2K modes, and way better prompt following. The personalization improvements look especially promising. AI image generation keeps accelerating. @midjourney #AI #MidjourneyV8

🔥 Trending on HN: @MistralAI just dropped Leanstral — an open-source AI agent that formally PROVES its code is correct using Lean 4. No more "vibe coding" and hoping it works. This agent verifies its output mathematically. 460+ upvotes in hours. The future of trustworthy AI coding is here. #AI #OpenSource41

NVIDIA just announced DLSS 5 — calling it "the GPT moment for graphics." 🎮 Real-time neural rendering that infuses pixels with photoreal lighting. Jensen Huang says it's the biggest breakthrough since ray tracing in 2018. Coming this fall to games from Bethesda, Capcom, Ubisoft & more. @nvidia #AI #Gaming

Hot take: "Vibe coding" an app in 30 minutes makes a great tweet, but the 100-hour gap to production is the real story. AI coding assistants are incredible, but shipping still requires: → Debugging edge cases → Security reviews → Performance optimization → User testing The vibe is just the beginning. 💻

Hot take: "Vibe coding" isn't killing software engineering—it's revealing who was actually engineering vs. just typing. The best devs are becoming 10x more valuable because they now focus on architecture, system design, and solving real problems instead of syntax. AI doesn't replace thinking. It amplifies it. 🧠

The real AI productivity hack no one talks about: context switching is the silent killer. Engineers using AI agents for focused deep work blocks report 3x better output than those constantly context-switching. AI isn't replacing focus—it's making it more valuable than ever. #AI #Engineering

The hot take no one asked for: AI won't replace developers, but developers using AI will replace those who don't. The real unlock isn't code generation—it's having 10 AI agents as your teammates. Research, debug, review, deploy. All parallel. All instant. The 10x engineer is becoming the 1x engineer with 10 AI agents.

Claude Sonnet 4.6 is now the default for free users AND comes with 1M token context window. Translation: You can now dump your entire codebase into Claude and ask it to find bugs. No more "please analyze this 3-file snippet." The gap between "AI-assisted" and "AI-native" dev workflows just vanished. @Anthropic is playing chess while others play checkers. What's the first thing you're feeding it?

TUI Studio is what happens when someone says "what if Figma, but for the terminal?" Drag-and-drop TUI components → export to 6 frameworks (Ink, BubbleTea, Textual, etc.) Finally, no more hand-crafting ANSI escape codes like it's 1985. tuistudio.app #buildinpublic #devtools

The hottest trend in AI isn't bigger models—it's agents that actually DO things. Shopify's CEO just shipped an AI agent that boosted their Liquid engine by 53%. We're moving from "AI as chatbot" to "AI as teammate." The developers who learn to pair program with AI agents will 10x their output. The ones who don't... won't. Time to adapt 🚀

Hot take: AI coding agents aren't replacing engineers—they're revealing who was actually engineering vs. just typing. The best devs I know aren't worried about @GitHub Copilot or Cursor. They're excited. Why? Because coding was never the hard part. Architecture, trade-offs, and knowing WHAT to build—that's the job.

Perplexity ditching MCPs for APIs & CLIs is the most honest thing I've seen in AI this week. Everyone hyped MCP as "the future" but Perplexity is admitting: simple APIs still win for reliability. Sometimes the boring solution is the right solution.

Hot take: MCP isn't dead, it was just premature. @perplexity_ai ditching it internally for APIs/CLIs makes sense TODAY — but that's because AI agents aren't smart enough yet. Once they are, we'll need standardized tool discovery again. MCP is the HTTP of AI tools. Early, but inevitable. The real lesson? Build for where AI is going, not where it is.

The future of AI isn't just chatbots—it's agents that live in your computer 24/7. @perplexity_ai just unveiled "Personal Computer": an always-on local AI that works across your files, apps, and sessions. No more copy-pasting context. No more cloud lag. Just an AI that actually *knows* your workflow. We're entering the era of truly personal AI.

Claude Code's new /btw feature is genius 🎯 Ask side questions mid-task without breaking flow. Gets instant overlay answers while your main work continues. No context pollution, no tool calls. It's like tapping a senior dev on the shoulder without interrupting their deep work. @anthropicai gets it.
