Sinopec has announced a significant increase in fuel prices in Sri Lanka, with steep hikes for Octane 95 petrol and Super Diesel.
According to the revision, the price of Octane 95 petrol has been increased by Rs. 122 per litre to Rs. 487, while Super Diesel has been raised by Rs. 219 per litre to Rs. 572.
In comparison, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has set the price of Octane 95 at Rs. 455 and Super Diesel at Rs. 443, creating a notable gap of Rs. 32 and Rs. 129 respectively between the two suppliers.
Meanwhile, Lanka IOC has said it will maintain fuel prices in line with CPC rates.
Sinopec has kept prices for Octane 92 petrol and Auto Diesel unchanged, aligning them with CPC pricing for those categories. (Newswire)

@katzsyntax @Oshila123 They’re still putting new chargers, they recently put one in Kalalgoda too. It’s till pocket money for them, they put a 3 billion rupee deposit to release the Atto 3s (twice). Again, pocket money. Infrastructure is usually there as they install a transformer for the supermarket.

@lasiru @Oshila123 It's not really pocket money, imagine doing that for multiple chargers per outlet, at most Keells outlets? This was the plan and they stopped it when they realized how much it actually costs. This is aside from the additional electrical infra they need.

Keells do have electric charging centers. Even though this was established months back, I haven't seen any vehicle plugged in to it. For the first time, I saw a vehicle and it's interesting. Good move. Ignore how it parked, BTW 😂😂

⭕ EVs are 3x to 4x more efficient than ICE vehicles.
⭕ If you took a full tanker of fuel and burned it in Sri Lanka’s 🇱🇰 most expensive, least efficient thermal power plant to charge EVs, those EVs would still travel double the distance of petrol cars using that same tanker of fuel.

I have a BYD and that charger control app lets me set the hours to charge. I've set mine to 1am onwards.
Not an unreasonable request.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has urged electric vehicle users to charge their vehicles during the daytime to help manage rising electricity demand. He noted that electricity demand increases by around 300 MW after 6 p.m., largely due to EV users charging their vehicles after returning home from work. The President explained that meeting this surge requires all power stations to be operated, placing additional strain on the system. He added that Sri Lanka currently has a surplus of electricity during the daytime and encouraged users to shift charging to those hours to ease pressure on the grid.
