Providing an update on the damage from the missile attacks on Ras Laffan Industrial City H.E. Minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi: The missile attacks reduced Qatar’s LNG export capacity by 17% and caused an estimated loss of $20 billion in annual revenue - Extensive damage to our production facilities will take up to five years to repair and will compel us to declare long-term force majeure QatarEnergy expects the damage to its Ras Laffan Industrial City caused by missile strikes, which occurred on Wednesday 18 March 2026, and in the early hours of Thursday 19 March 2026, to cost about $20 billion a year in lost revenue and to take up to five years to repair, impacting supply to markets in Europe and Asia. Providing an update on the damage to the facilities at Ras Laffan Industrial City, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said “I am relieved to confirm that no one was injured by these unjustified and senseless attacks, which weren’t just an attack on the State of Qatar but attacks on global energy security and stability. This was an attack on all of us who stand for development and human progress that is sustained by a fair, reliable, and secure access to energy.” The attacks damaged two liquefied natural gas (LNG) producing Trains 4 and 6 totaling 12.8 million tons per annum (MTPA) of production, representing approximately 17% of Qatar’s exports. Train 4 is a joint venture between QatarEnergy (66%) and ExxonMobil (34%), and Train 6 is a joint venture between QatarEnergy (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%). His Excellency Minister Al-Kaabi said: “The damage sustained by the LNG facilities will take between three to five years to repair. The impact is on China, South Korea, Italy and Belgium. This means that we will be compelled to declare force majeure for up to five years on some long-term LNG contracts.” The attacks also targeted the Pearl GTL (Gas-to-Liquids) facility, a production sharing agreement operated by Shell, that converts natural gas into high-quality cleaner burning drop-in fuels and produces base oils used to make premium engine oils and lubricants, and paraffins and waxes. “The damage caused to one of the two trains at Pearl GTL is being assessed and is expected to be offline for a minimum of one year” His Excellency Minister Al-Kaabi added. It should be noted that there will be a loss of associated product production due to this outage as follows: · Condensates: 18.6 million barrels which is around 24% of Qatar’s exports · LPG: 1.281 MT which is around 13% of Qatar’s exports · Naphtha: 0.594 MT which is around 6% of Qatar’s exports · Sulfur: 0.18 MT which is around 6% of Qatar’s exports · Helium: 309.54 MCFA which is around 14% of Qatar’s exports His Excellency the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy paid tribute to the Qatari military and security forces and to the energy sector emergency response teams whose courage and extraordinary professionalism ensured the situation was contained quickly and safely. #Qatar

Since 2015 (11 Years ago) the GSLP have been promising there’d be a new “purpose-built” Ambulance Station. Instead services are being provided from portacabins in difficult conditions. The hard-working men & women of Ambulance Service should be supported. Those GSLP commitments👇

#Gibraltar and for our followers over nearby Spain - an extremely wet week to come, with some Gale force winds forecast - updated post 01/02 As per our previous heads-up over the last few days, the forecast remains very pessimistic for the coming week/ start of February - with the first cold front arriving across the area later tonight into Monday morning. This is just the first of a succession of fronts forecast for this week, driven S/E across the local area, by several LOW pressure systems barrelling into Western Europe (with it likely that we could see further named storms). Latest forecasts continue to forecast some very high/ extreme rainfall for large areas of the South & West of Iberia, including the local area - with the latest #ECMWF Extreme Forecast Index (EFI) for Rainfall indicating a large area of 0.8+ next week. The chart from #UKMO of Total Rainfall Accumulations totted up to the end of Friday 6th, backs this up, signalling the potential for upwards of 200mm possible over parts of nearby #Spain and perhaps as high as 400mm+ locally over the Sierra de Grazalema. Any rain is of concern now, but this week's forecast totals are very worrying as they will compound flood problems across Andalucia with groundwaters saturated and rivers still running very high. As well as the heavy rain, as previously mentioned, Wednesday/ Thursday in particular need watching with the return of more widespread Gales forecast. Do keep an eye on forecasts this week and for any warnings in your area - be prepared for more stormy weather! 👀 MeteoGib will keep you updated as always.

#Gibraltar and for our followers over nearby #Spain - a very unsettled start to February - updated post 31/01 While this weekend brings us a brief welcome respite from last week's stormy weather - as Meteogib flagged up - it's not good news for next week with the weather set to turn much more unsettled again from Monday, with a succession of Lows continuing to barrel East from the Atlantic driving further fronts/ spells of wet and windy weather across the local area (it's likely that we'll see further named storms). Below is the latest Rainfall forecast from the Met Office running from tomorrow Sunday, through to the end of Friday, 6th February. 👇 This shows a very wet week ahead, with the latest chart of forecast Rain Accumulations totted up over the same period, showing the potential for some very high/ extreme totals, particularly over nearby Spain - this would compound flooding problems with ground waters already saturated and rivers still running high. Alongside the Heavy Rain, as mentioned previously, there has been the signal for some spells of more widespread Gale force winds possible again, with Wednesday & Thursday particularly days to watch out for. This coming week will certainly need watching! Do stay abreast of the forecast and any warnings issued - as always MeteoGib will keep you up to date with all the latest. #Forewarned is #Forearmed

#Gibraltar and for our followers over nearby Spain - #StormJoseph #BorrascaJoseph - update 10am, 26/01 As MeteoGib has been flagging up the last few days, some very poor weather is forecast as we head into Tuesday, courtesy of Storm Joseph which was named yesterday by the Portuguese Met Service. Stormy conditions are forecast for Tuesday & Wednesday and potentially Thursday, with more widespread Gales developing across the area, with potentially damaging gusts, and bringing very rough/ higher seas. Some spells of prolonged heavy rain also forecast, as a succession of active fronts push SE from the Atlantic across the area, with a risk of torrential, perhaps thundery downpours. Below is the latest forecast from the Met Office for Rainfall & Maximum Gusts - with forecasts continuing to signal some potentially significant/ extreme rainfall accumulations in the local area. Winds will also pick up to a very strong or Gale force Southwesterly with gusts 40-50kts (74-93km/h) - but as we also mentioned previously forecasts also signal a risk that some gusts might reach Severe Gale and 50-58kts (100km/h+)! 👀 ⚠️ Do TAKE CARE and stay up to date with forecasts/ warnings for your area, with Advisories now issued for Tuesday for Gibraltar (as far as we understand) and also nearby Spain (AEMET)!
