@cogitoautomate @itskyleconner If you can charge at home then going to a gas station is more of a hassle. If you can’t charge at home then gas is often more convenient.
English

@itskyleconner Eh that’s actually kind of a hassle.
It’s going green, sure, but that’s a lot and probably pretty similar to gas.
If you charged at a station, then that’d annoy me to do every week or so

@jonatanpallesen @alx Why are you saying “we” as if you live in Greenland?
English

Greenland has a population of 56,000.
America should send 100,000 “undocumented immigrants” to “culturally enrich” the island.
They should then be given full rights as citizens.
Finally, they can hold a referendum on leaving Denmark for America.
There’s nothing wrong with this because replacing populations to change the voting demographics is a myth.
English

@UnboundPhd @GuntherEagleman @grok is it a lie that most people in Greenland don’t have access to the internet?

@DataRepublican @RasmusJarlov @grok Does the US currently have more than one military base on Greenland? Does it only have a few hundred personal on it?
How many US military bases did the US shut down and how many are left now?
Which military is patrolling the entire coast of Greenland?
English

Your entire military footprint in Greenland amounts to roughly 130 personnel. Pituffik Space Base alone is larger, and historically housed around 6,000. Framing this as a looming war is absurd.
What you do have is a self-inflicted global stalemate: loudly backing Ukraine while still buying Russian oil; sermonizing about democracy while condemning Maduro’s ouster; ignoring protests in Iran while fretting over the return of a king... all contradictions that conveniently sustain NGO growth and EU rent-seeking.
Like it or not, Trump is dismantling your grift and rewriting the world order. You don't have any logical reason to oppose it, except you hate that your era of dependence on US taxpayers is finally ending. So all you can do is appeal to emotions and invent a war out of thin cloth.

@ID_AA_Carmack Is this limited to one service location or can this be used roaming?

Starlink announced a $5/month plan that gives unlimited usage at 500kbits/s.
Modern apps and web pages would immediately back up every buffer and make for a painful experience, but it is fun to consider optimizing inside that tight box (in the 90s, 4x ISDN was high end!).
With Starlink’s good latency, input-distribution multiplayer games would still work fine, as long as they didn’t download anything. You could even have voice chat.
With an optimal implementation, you could scroll the X feed as fast as you want with full text, with progressive images coming in when you pause, but instantly ceasing bandwidth use as you start scrolling again.
Remote shells would work well by default, but we could do a lot better than standard ANSI for complex updates.
Server-rendered web pages or apps could at least be progressively rendered and text-first, with full responsiveness even when the fidelity is low.

@aloukissas By default Tesla makes non-secure HTTPS requests. I made an issue about it years ago. It’s still the default years later. Even if it was secure by default I still prefer Req.
English

While I appreciate the effort, I think Req has been a distraction for the #Elixir community, adding to the Paradox of Choice. I would much rather that the community stood behind the battle-tested Tesla and submit PRs to improve it.

@Jack_at_joat @notsureaboutt20 @digital_ma326 @ZubyMusic There are only 20 Eurozone countries. There are ~50 countries in Europe.
For instance all of the Scandinavian countries are outside the Eurozone.
Note that the Eurozone and the EU are different.

@laut @digital_ma326 @ZubyMusic The Eurozone then. The United States doesn't have an official language, and contains huge numbers of people for whom English is not their first language. There is a reason that we have states instead of provinces.
