A 3 second flight view of a small duck flying over Morghan this morning set alarm bells ringing. 90 minutes of frantic searching ended when I found Barra's 1st BUFFLEHEAD on a tiny loch in the Dark Glen. Unringed and flighty, it flew off west at 12.12pm.

@GarryBagnell Being filmed in Cornwall now Gary, may be more about birding with some twitching as well. Could be a series if it proves popular. Hopefully, we will see knowledgeable birders used, but we will see.

It was 16 years ago since the last Twitching programme appeared on British TV. These twitchers are all still active, but if another programme gets commissioned, it would be interesting to see who gets selected.

When my patch-watching buddy sent me a vid of a Black-winged Kite, I assumed he was on holiday in Spain, then the text came through "Saul Warth now". Brilliant find by @UKGords & lucky I'm only 20mins away. Seen better than the pics, not helped by the strong sun. Big ✅#GlosBirds

Following the funeral for local birder John Grearson, I thought it was poignant to visit Twitchers Gate, CWP. This was John's favourite viewpoint in the Water Park. Many a happy hour watching nothing in particular but always worth it when something special was found #wiltsbirds

Here’s the video of the Porthgwarra, Cornwall Soft-plumaged Petrel on 13 July 2025. Originally found by John Foster at Coverack it was picked up at Porthgwarra by Steve Rogers and also seen there by myself, Pete Clement, Graham Lawlor and John Ryan.

Top afternoon y’day on Salisbury Plain. 7 Stone-curlew, 5 Grey Partridge, 3 Whinchat, 5 Yellow Wag and Corn Buntings everywhere. All very rare or non-existent breeders in Cornwall!
