Donald Trump kicked 3.5 million people off SNAP suggesting we can't afford it, but a new ballroom and $50 billion war in Iran? No problem.

Every single neighborhood that used to have those walkie talkies on poles has seen violence go down after they were removed. I'm not going to sell Chicagoans a false bill of goods just to enrich the interests of corporations. Any technology with a proven track record of driving down violence, I'm willing to explore. Accepting anything less than that would be a derelict of my duty as mayor.

After the Chicago Bears’ $2 billion offer for a new stadium in exchange for predictable, long-term property tax rules, Governor Pritzker was unable to negotiate the deal and placed 100% of the blame on the Bears. When confronted with blowing billions of taxpayer dollars on illegal migrants, he refused to take any accountability and simply blamed Governor Abbott for busing them to Chicago.

As Mayor of Chicago, I held a set of economic principles that I was never going to violate. Chief among them: don’t allow taxpayers to be treated as the dumb money at the table. We’ve brought the NFL Draft, NHL Draft, and NBA All-Star Game to Chicago on our terms. FIFA wanted to take the reward from the World Cup games while our city received the promise of ‘marketing dollars’ with no intrinsic value. I've passed 8th grade math and the numbers don't work. Not happening. Chicago is a world-class host for sporting events, theatre, the arts, and the culinary world without needing to screw over middle-class Chicagoans. nytimes.com/athletic/73188…

Taking the Blue Line home after a red eye from ORD and every car is full of people dealing with housing insecurity. This is not how you deal with homelessness. This is not the role of public transit. This is not how you introduce tourists to your city. @ChicagosMayor

We refuse to accept any level of violence as normal. But we are encouraged, especially on Gun Violence Awareness Day, of the progress @Chicago is making in driving down crime. My administration will continue strengthening community violence intervention, coordinated responses to crime, and increased investment in our young people.
