The Observer has highlighted the story of Sarah Wangari, a victim of police brutality turned to an HRD. Her story is not isolated but one among many in different households in Nairobi's poor urban areas. Sarah chose to turn that pain into a strength for advocacy against EJK.

I want to thank @AyaanAbukarr for writing her Substack journal about General Shuute — Somalia’s Chief of Military Court, feared by Al-Shabaab as the “Angel of Death.” Shuute prosecutes the group relentlessly; they even killed his father for exposing their Mafia-style criminal empire. Ayaan, a Dutch-Somali historian and author of Hotel Mogadishu (a must-read), was the first to tell Shuute’s story — her work sparked wider international attention, leading outlets like @ObserverUK and journalist @layla_mood to document it further. For policymakers, researchers, and intelligence professionals, following General Shuute’s own Facebook page -where he openly publicizes Al-Shabaab’s trials, is a rare, invaluable window into the fight against terrorism.

Fascinating piece in yesterday's Observer about the way in which a young military judge is using Tik Tok to draw the Somali public into trials involving Al-Shabaab suspects. observer.co.uk/news/internati…

This week marks exactly 32 years since the “Bloody Monday Massacre” in #Somalia when the #US military bombed a “suspected rebel safe house” in #Mogadishu on July 12th 1993, killing over 70 civilians — consisting of mostly religious scholars, elders, women and young children.
