@update_skate @Nao_kodaira Femke Kok and Min-Sun Kim are both very good and under 25 years old, so they still have plenty of time to improve. Erin Jackson is already 30 so she will likely only have a few years at the top level left, but she could skate very fast in those few years.

The women's 500m was dominated for a long time by @Nao_kodaira: she sprinkled sub-37.00 500m like a cherry blossom tree sprinkles petals. With her career ending last year, who will be the next skater to get under 36.50 and approach the top level of Lee and Kodaira? #speedskating

In reality the push off phases while #speedskating looks something like this, power is zero Watt's when gliding above skate and is maximum at end of push off. One graph with gliding phase and one without gliding phase, see how this effects the P average.

@ldcarruthers I don't think Dubreuil will skate under 24.32 on the 500m today. He generally skates a faster lap on the 1000 and I do give him a good chance there.

Here's something cool. This is a list of the 20 fastest national records for the 400m lap. The biggest surprise is definitely Colombia with 24.90.
