still lot of people are still confused about how the @zama auction works, so let me say it clearly. this auction is not about being clever by splitting bids into many price levels. that does not help you buy cheaper. that is the first mistake i see everywhere. zama is using a sealed-bid dutch auction. what happens is simple. they are selling 880m $zama in total. everyone submits a bid with two things, price and amount. when the auction ends, the system starts filling orders from the highest price going down. once the total filled reaches 880m zama, that price becomes the clearing price. that clearing price is everything. • it does not matter if you bid higher than others. if you win, everyone pays the same clearing price. • if your bid is above the clearing price, you get your full allocation and the extra money back. • if your bid lands exactly on the clearing price, you get a pro-rata fill. • if your bid is below it, you get refunded fully and walk away with nothing. that is why spreading bids across many levels makes no sense. you are not gaming the system, you are just complicating your own life. my approach is very straightforward. i split my plan into two parts. • first is the larger capital play. i bid around 0.04/0.05, which is roughly a 500m fdv. if the clearing price is at or below this level, my order fills. if it clears higher, i am fine with a refund. i will just watch price action after and hedge with futures if needed. • second is the smaller capital play. this is for people deploying 1k or 2k. i bid very high, something like $0.2/3. not because i think it is worth that, but because it guarantees i get filled at the clearing price. this way i do not overthink it. and honestly, if zama is listing on top tier exchanges like everyone expects, it would be very strange to see it trade below public sale prices right after launch. that almost never looks good. this is simply how i am playing it. sharing my thinking, not selling dreams. do your own homework. A unknown entity shorted a total of 1,677,529 HYPE ($51.65M) over the past few days at an average price of 34.2087 across 54 different wallets, with a liquidation price just 12% above the current price at 34.6703. This entity also helped cause the 9% liquidation wick on November 9th. They really tried to hide it, but I saw a big move in shorts and found the cluster. Not sure if it’s related, but during the dump from 39 → 32 someone (or multiple entities) also shorted a lot of HYPE on Binance - roughly 1.1M HYPE ($30.8M) in open interest was added on Binance during a 10-hour window where price dumped 17%. In that period, funding turned negative for the first time in 3 weeks on Binance. He is doing this on high leverage, has a total of $9M worth of margin in his wallets, and is already up $5.34M UPNL on the shorts. For the people saying it’s the team hedging the unlocks: I don’t think that’s the case. They wouldn’t hedge or do it like this, especially not with this kind of leverage and such a tiny margin for error.

While I will say some of the blame falls with @MetaDAOProject in how they leave it open for gaming, I will also say the bulk of the problem is the simple fact that @Polymarket (and any other permissionless prediction market) simply incentivize this. Now that people have gotten burned sufficiently (noise has been made..), any perception of edge in these markets is gone and people will not bother with these markets anymore. I am bullish on futarchy but honestly the presales at this stage make little sense if there's no: - social - onchain - general alignment factors To filter out bidders. If its just linear, that's a bit stupid and its not optimal. Again, its still better than kyc gating things. But it needs to be changed.
