@NotLeafsNeedGod I would say his system, competent management above him and a well built team throughout the line up. None the less he has been bad enough to be fired 2 times. He has an expiration date and he’s past his IMO. The league passing around the same coaches is boring quite frankly.

Bruce Cassidy is absolutely the hire.

Having a coach who understands how the game is played in the modern era and being able to connect with players is just as important as ‘experience’

@Banx_Leaf Holy awful take, how can you look at how berube and Babcock (two experienced coach’s with a winning history) turned out with the leafs and think going a different route then hiring some retread has been is a bad idea?

The leafs are betting on a long time theory that head coaches are useless and as long as you have some assistants who know their Xs and Os you can just put a motivator as head coach and be successful

Then Matthews requests a trade and you start a rebuild, only issue is, you just traded away a solid 23 year old on an amazing deal who would be a solid piece to build around

Matthew Knies has BY FAR the best contract on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Brad Treliving wanted to give that away for 4 mystery boxes.

@BobBark11503563 @berezin_goal This trade would have turned out exactly the same way the Hagel to TB trade did. Knies is going to be Hagel in his prime. Only bigger and stronger. And it would have been to the Habs, anyone saying this wasn’t a bad trade is just flat out wrong
