In this op-ed for The Hindu, our co-Founders Azeez Gupta and Utsav Kheria, and our Content & Education Lead, Sukhna Sawhney, posit that inclusive AI must be built around the languages, voices and cultural contexts that shape a child's earliest learning experiences. They point to initiatives like BHASHINI and BharatGen as a start, but argue inclusive educational AI must be designed around how children and caregivers actually communicate; including in homes, on WhatsApp, and in Anganwadis; combining technology with strong pedagogy, human guidance and safety guardrails. For young children, it is critical that AI tools are designed in the languages they think, speak and learn in, reflecting how they naturally explore the world through conversation, stories and play. Six years. Long enough for a toddler once in their mother's lap to now be walking into their first classroom. Long enough to transform from "just a WhatsApp video", to a training ecosystem reaching over 400,000 Anganwadi educators. Long enough for a question scribbled in a notebook - "What if every child got the best start in life?" - to grow into a national movement reaching six million children. Six years ago, all we had was a belief: that parents are a child's first teachers, that Anganwadi workers are among India's greatest educators, and that governments can create change at extraordinary scale. Those beliefs have taken us farther than we imagined. From one district to multiple states across India. From one pilot to millions of children. Today, we celebrate everyone who made this journey possible - our government partners, Anganwadi educators, parents, teammates, supporters, and most importantly, the millions of young children who remind us every day why the first six years matter so much. Our recent District Coordinator (DC) training brought together participants from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and beyond for days of learning, collaboration, and shared purpose. Led by Senior Programme Managers of our team, the training focused on strengthening the skills DCs need to support Anganwadi educators on the ground - from data management and effective Slack communication to field operations and essential soft skills. A child's earliest years shape not just their future - but a nation's future. "Research from Tamil Nadu shows that children who regularly participate in early learning programmes gain an average of 7 additional IQ points. With sustained investment from 0-3 years, that increase could reach 15-20 IQ points", said VK Paul, Former Member, @NITIAayog at Punjab Early Childhood Development Conclave 2026.  The impact goes beyond individuals: A 10-point increase in IQ is associated with a 1% increase in a country's GDP.
