Queda muy snob ridiculizar la fantasía pero es una idea vieja propia de mentes rígidas. Tolkien no crea una evasión lúdica sino una metáfora, como la de cualquier mito, que conecta con la espiritualidad, la ética y la filosofía. Y eso es tan real y tan humano como la propia vida.

@ed_nong De adolescente flipé con Evangelion. Hace poco la volví a ver y no fue para tanto, pero el momento de la novena sinfonía sigue teniendo una potencia dramática importante.

Evangelion mola sobre todo en la recta final pero mi problema con la serie es el hype: 1. Me vendieron alta filosofía (no lo es, hacen el truco de hablar vago y no explicar nada). 2. El objetivo de la serie (colar existencialismo en mechas) fracasa. Psicología simplona.

@DiUrarte Una delicia. Fragmentario, irregular, a veces árido, con momentos brillantes, y en conjunto un juego de luces y sombras monumental y profundamente satisfactorio, como suele pasar con la novela gótica.

Alguien por aquí ha leído "Manuscrito hallado en Zaragoza", de Jan Potocki? Lo tengo pendiente desde hace siglos pero yo creo que ya toca. Los temas que trata encajan mucho con mis filias y creo que puede ser interesante. Es que ya la cubierta es exactamente mi mierda.

Una vez leído, me desdigo. Además de completar el viaje iniciado en los dos libros anteriores, ofrece una valiosa intuición que interpela. El tono cuesta al principio si esperas economía del lenguaje, pero está ciertamente justificado. Después de todo, es un viaje espiritual.

This is a great example of what Jan Assmann calls the Mosaic distinction. It is the divide between true and false religion. It's the idea that one god is the real god and all the others are false, demons, or nothing at all. Traditional religion simply doesn't have this category. When the Romans encountered the Germanic tribes, they didn't try to determine which gods were true or false. They engaged in interpretation, trying to see where their gods overlapped and could be considered the same. The Mosaic distinction introduces a completely different idea. Revelation replaces tradition, correct belief replaces practice. When this happens, the other religion isn't a different expression of the divine order, but rather an enemy of the truth. This generates counter-religion. Religion is defined in opposition to traditional religion and carries with it heresy, apostasy, and holy war as its defining features. In Traditional religion, the gods are real; their names and customs vary from one people to another. Mi alumno lector de 2º de ESO (el que el curso pasado me iba haciendo partícipe de por dónde iba en El hobbit y en La historia interminable), me ha comunicado hoy que ha emprendido la lectura de El Señor de los Anillos. Es un acontecimiento importante al que asisto agradecido.
