This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant. #Womenwillnotbesilenced #VoteKamala

Trump on Liz Cheney: "Let's put her with a rifle standing there with 9 barrels shooting at her. Let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face."

@CACMmag @geercom @CrowdStrike Interesting to see the description of the actual bug, but it does not mention another dimension: this flawed update obviously was not tested internally before it was shipped, because any QA test would have seen the crashes

@mipsytipsy I totally agree that regular skip level 1x1s are valuable and essential, but I also agree they need to be part of an org's culture, and they are only 1 component of good overall leadership (necessary but not sufficient)

🌼Skip levels 🌸Are an 🌻Organizational 🌷Necessity If you don't have a 1x1 with your boss's boss, and/or each of your direct reports' reports, at least 2-4 times a year...why not? Skip levels are e2e health checks for your management chain. This is basic org hygiene, people.

@mipsytipsy True, _until_ I found that manager skillfully erected a glass ceiling just above my level, effectively killing my career progression for a few years. I was a threat because I could do their ghings just as well - but I could also build. They could not.

In earlier decades (e.g. 1970s, 1980s) the size of programs was very, very important. These days, the program size for e.g. backend services or even native apps is rarely a focus. What are examples where this is *still* a major focus? Optimizing program/app size, that is.

@nut_history David Aardsma, a pitcher for several teams 2004-2015. I believe that if you listed all the MLB players in alphabetical order by last name, he would be the only one ahead of Henry Aaron.

@jvirshbo @flagstafffilms Thanks for finding this! Game-ending error by Maury Wills, who was a 2-time Gold Glove winner (but not in 1969).

Is that an Intentional Walk to Willie Mac with no one on base? Sure is....⚾️📽️and it backfires in a strange way. Courtesy of the legendary photographers Kenneth and Mark Allan/ SF.

Hello @NathanSportsInc does anyone monitor the incoming messages from your "Contact Us" page? I have sent 2 requests about a flaky Zephyr Trail 200 flashlight and heard nothing?

@GergelyOrosz Because of the "tri-modal pay distribution you have written about, any sampling of tech salaries could be skewed if the sample contained too many (or too few) from each category of company. Having said that, $144K does not seem completely crazy, for US tech anyway.

I treat data referencing anything tech Payscale with caution, as they are a thriving but a tech-industry focused source. I still can’t decide if this data on PMs is legit or noise. (Note the original data source is inaccessible; all we have is a CNBC article referencing it):

@flagstafffilms I saw #39 on the mound for the Mets and at first I thought it might be Gary Gentry. But he was a rookie in 1969, it must have been Dick Selma. Sure enough, Selma was the starter and winner on 5/4/68.
