🚨Now that tonight’s @bbcquestiontime has aired, it's clear the BBC misled viewers by not disclosing Tom Skinner’s Reform UK membership, even as he discussed Nigel Farage. 🔍 Viewers deserve transparency.
Lewis Ormston@LewisOrmston

.@bbcquestiontime have now twice failed to correctly identify Reform UK representatives on their panels. They may not be elected, but they are still political representatives. Viewers deserve the full picture.

There is a longstanding policy on #bbcqt to massively overrepresent right-wing non-politician panelists, and to conceal their background and political allegiances like we did tonight with privately educated criminal, GB "News" regular, and Reform UK member, Tom Skinner.

BBC Question Time@bbcquestiontime

There is a longstanding policy on Question Time not to invite MPs on in their local constituencies unless it’s for a single-issue special programme. This is why Mike Tapp MP appeared on the panel in his constituency for the immigration special in Dover.

@bbcquestiontime There is a longstanding policy on Question Time to invite Unelected nobody Zia Yusuf on your show more than 4 times in a year (more than any other guest). It's also a longstanding policy on Question Time to invite Reform cheerleaders and not mention it in their bios 👍🏼

@ABridgen I think watching the drone and missiles war in both Iran and Ukraine we have no capability to fight this kind of war. We have no iron dome like Israel and no drones defence like Ukraine. The government has not grasped the nettle and remains complacent about the dangers.

This is a real car crash interview by John Healey the UK Defence Secretary. He is clearly on the edge of a mental breakdown! The pressure is building.

In response to this there’s been a number of examples given that provides evidence that this 👇 statement appears to be (ahem!) erroneous So, that begs the question why would the #BBCQT provide this to ‘support’ the Farage explanation for his usual AWOL from Clacton? Mysterious

Here’s the short version: the claim is not true. There is no BBC rule, no parliamentary rule, and no established convention that bans MPs from appearing on Question Time when the programme is broadcast from their own constituency. Nothing in the House of Commons guidance supports such a restriction, and the BBC has never stated such a rule publicly. The House of Commons Library outlines conventions about MPs visiting or intervening in other MPs’ constituencies, not their own. These conventions relate to courtesy between MPs, not media appearances. These conventions say nothing about TV appearances, and nothing about restrictions within an MP’s own constituency. There is no publicly documented BBC policy that bans MPs from appearing on Question Time in their own constituency. Historically, MPs have appeared on QT when the show is filmed in their constituency. It’s not common—because the panel is usually chosen for political balance, not geography—but it’s absolutely not prohibited. If the BBC did tell an MP this, it would be: • an internal editorial choice • a misunderstanding • or a convenient excuse to avoid saying “we didn’t pick you this week” But it is not a rule. Moreover, as Farage has appeared on #bbcqt more than any other MP, it is doubtful that any of these apply

Meet serving Metropolitan Police Special Constable David Soffer. He was filmed calling a Palestinian journalist with @AJENews a "dog" and telling him to "go back to Qatar". Will the @metpoliceuk take action RT if you think they should

Imagine if a Muslim off-duty police officer called a Jewish Chronicle reporter a "dog" and told them to "go back to Tel Aviv" Would be front-page of every major newspaper. Starmer would have to make a statement. Let's see if it's even covered at all when it's this way round...

British livestock welfare vs the rest of the world: Growth hormones in beef: UK - Illegal USA - Legal and routine Brazil - Banned on paper, compliance varies Routine antibiotic use for growth promotion: UK - Illegal since 1999 USA - Legal until 2017, still loosely regulated Majority of global producers - Ongoing Slaughterhouse CCTV: UK - Mandatory USA - No federal requirement EU - Not mandatory Sow stalls (gestation crates for pigs): UK - Banned since 1999 USA - Legal in most states China - Standard practice Live export for slaughter: UK - Banned 2024 EU - Still permitted to non-EU countries Britain is not perfect. But the gap between British welfare standards and global welfare standards is not a small gap. When you buy British, you are buying inside a legal framework that most of the world has not yet built. That's worth something.

Reform UK are selling Black Shirts on their website — for £349. I think this is illegal. TL;DR — they are breaking Small Society Lottery, Gambling Commission and GDPR regulations. Aside from the ludicrous price tag and on-the-nose fascist connotations, they force you to partake in a lottery for an extra £1. This is non-negotiable, and you cannot buy a shirt without gambling a quid — we'll get to that in a minute. What's the prize, I hear you all clamouring? Well, you can win … a group lunch that Nigel Farage will be at. Oh! 🥺 Not an individual lunch, but a group lunch with others. It doesn't state that you even get to meet the man himself, and you have to fund your own travel expenses … after security vetting. OK, that's all a bit of a faff, but what of the legalities behind this odd lottery? Firstly, they claim to have registered themselves with Westminster Council as a Small Society Lottery in order to run this scheme. Small society lotteries as defined under the Gambling Act 2005 state that: The “society” running the lottery must be non-commercial / non-profit in purpose: charities, sports clubs, community organisations etc. cannot be run for private or commercial gain. Westminster Council's own website stipulates that: The society must be established and conducted for: — charitable purposes — the purpose of enabling participation in, or of supporting, sport, athletics, or a cultural activity — any other non-commercial purpose other than that of private gain Reform UK fits none of these criteria and even goes so far to state within its own Ts & Cs: 100% of lottery proceeds will be applied to the political purposes of Reform UK. So, commercial and political gain — not only against the spirt of the Small Society Lotteries, but I think, against the rules entirely. The second aspect of their lottery hustle is that, in order to buy a shirt, you must also purchase a lottery ticket, thereby forcing your hand and offering no free alternative — illegal I believe under GDPR rules and the Gambling Commission. By requiring a purchase, it likely counts as 'consideration' tied to chance — that makes it not a free draw and therefore cannot be registered as a non-commercial Small Society Lottery. From the Advertising Standards Agency: If the entry to a draw is contingent on payment, there must generally be a free-entry route available to avoid classification as an unlawful lottery. If no free-entry route is offered, and entry is effectively “forced” via purchase, the promotion would likely be deemed an illegal lottery. So by embedding this mandatory lottery purchase as condition on buying the shirt, I believe it is an illegal lottery. So, to wrap up, I genuinely believe this an illegal enterprise. By forcing people to gamble, on condition of buying a shirt … is illegal. By running a Small Society Lottery for commercial profit … is illegal. Who the hell is going to stop these shysters? Tag in your MP and anyone you can think of. I will register an official complaint with the @ICOnews and see what transpires, but they appear to be hawking illegal merch as if they were in Deptford market. Some screenshots and a video of the buying process are below.
