My very first landing page for Lucy AI is live! A virtual friend with real personality and human-like memory that evolves as you talk. Just like a Tamagotchi but one that actually gets you. Go check it out and join the waitlist. #buildinpublic #indiehacker

Today's one of my last days working in Montreal. Next week, i'll be heading up to Paris. Feels so weird to leave a place where you've lived for so long and built things

that tension is real. The instinct is to add safety rails everywhere but then the thing stops feeling like talking to someone and starts feeling like talking to a handbook. Best ones I've seen just... get out of the way when it matters. Let the conversation breathe instead of inserting yourself into every moment.

Building an AI companion that actually feels human is one thing. Making sure it stays that way without doing too much when the conversations get serious is a whole other challenge. Not an easy line to walk. #buildinpublic #indiehacker

@speakmurmur Exactly. Feeling heard before being helped is literally what I'm trying to build rn into my AI companion Lucy

@legardienv the 'doing too much' line is the real craft. most ai companions optimize for response quality but the harder skill is knowing when to stay quiet. users usually feel heard before they feel helped — and most products skip straight to helping.

Thought about this today: mixing studies and building has been one of the hardest things to navigate. At some point you have to choose and choosing the startup means betting on yourself over a potentially huge and prestigious career. And when you're doing well academically, that bet feels even harder to make because it's just a conviction with no way of knowing if it'll ever pay off.

Ran an SEO audit on my app's landing page yesterday: 96% health score. The foundation is solid, all that's missing now are time and backlinks, which basically just means time Really happy about this because it gives me hope, the rest is just about building something people actually want to link to. #buildinpublic #indiehacker

Spent a few days in NYC last week. Been a few times now so I skipped the tourist stuff and just walked around. I really feel like that city has a big effect on you. Every time I go I come back feeling like I can make huge things. #indiehacker

Talked yesterday about my conversion rate. But there's another issue: the traffic itself is way too low. 84 visitors last month. And the weird part is that more people found the site through Bing than through X. Wtf, didn't know people were still using Bing?? So I built a small blog system on the landing page to start bringing in organic traffic through SEO. Heard it's a slow game, but it has to start somewhere. #buildinpublic #indiehacker

Just checked the numbers of the landing page I built a few weeks ago: 87 visitors last month, 1 signup from someone I don't know. Not many visits, but the worst part is the CATASTROPHIC conversion rate. Looking back at my site, I realized people had absolutely no reason to sign up for the waitlist. So I'm changing that: early members now get 50% off their first 3 months. Let's see.

You all are overthinking your app ideas. This app makes your Mac moan when you slap it -> it made $5,000 in 3 days. Just ship it.

My first app's core feature is almost fully done (human-like memory algorithm). Just some UI and fine-tuning left before the app is wrapped. Managed to do this between exams and honestly moved faster than i thought. Still, does anyone else get this feeling of being so slow from looking at their feed?

I think part of the problem is that people stopped offloading to each other. Everything builds up, and social interactions get heavier because everyone shows up already full. That's actually something I noticed recently that pushed me to build Lucy, a virtual companion with a real memory that actually gets you. It's like a full toolkit for feeling better again yourfriendlucy.com

burnout hit a 6-year high in the US at the same time, the global wellness industry is forecast to reach $9 trillion by 2028 health is the #1 industry in the US it's bigger than the entire GDP of Germany 🤯 mental wellness is its fastest growing segment, sleep tech is on track to 5x in the next decade, mental health apps will nearly double by 2030 the math is almost too clean - more suffering, more market a lot of people are getting very rich solving something that is getting worse every year I don't know what to do with that - I just think it's worth sitting with

Been working on Lucy's memory alongside my exams these past few days and honestly I'm sooo happy with where things are. Big progress on the algorithm, token usage down by nearly 80%. I don't want to jinx it but if everything holds, a huge part of the app should be done by end of week #buildinpublic #indiehacker
