we put a new pair of underwear on my 3 year old every time she uses the bathroom cause idk, it just seemed easy and we’re not really strict on “now we are Getting Dressed for the day” so we do need to do it sometime
anyway I’ve started doing the same myself cause like, fresh underwear is great!

@maiab @Romy_Holland lol same like I had an at home nurse to give me IV drips and was still - no joke - puking 25+ times per day. We are not the same.
English

@Romy_Holland I feel similarly about people who had easy pregnancies like when they suggest ginger tea for nausea

people with easy babies are like “but have you tried swaddling him?”
buddy. we’ve tried every swaddle on god’s green earth in combination with every temperature, lighting condition and moon phase. we’re looking into exorcisms over here.

Now that I've had a moderately difficult baby and a very easy baby I can say somewhat confidently that very easy babies are indeed very easy These are not the same parenting experiences, and it's not close, it's two different planets

@rohindhar Ah yes, sadly all places we aren’t interested in (too far or bad weather)

I’m flying to Hawaii on Sunday to help facilitate a business conference.
I need to be very sharp for this conference. I can’t afford jet lag.
But my body is locked into Texas time. I'll be waking up at 3 AM in Hawaii if I don’t fix that.
So I’m running a specific protocol to shift my circadian rhythm backward.
Here is the plan:
1. Forcing the night shift. I will try to stay up until midnight or 1 AM every night between now and then.
2. Dark mornings. I naturally wake up early. But tomorrow I will wear sunglasses inside until 9 AM. I have to trick my brain into thinking it's still night.
3. Delaying caffeine. No coffee at 7 AM. Instead I’ll push my first cup to 9:00 AM to delay my cortisol spike.
4. Eating late. I’m snacking at 10 PM tonight and making a taco as I type this. I read that digestion keeps the body temp up and signals to the body that the day isn't over.
5. Sunday fasting. On the day of my flight, I will not eat breakfast. I will try to wait until it's "morning" in Hawaii (which is 11 AM my time) to break the fast.
From everything I read, adjusting your circadian rhythm involves editing your light, temperature, and food timing.
Let’s see if the bio-hack works.
Anything else I should be doing?

@sariazout Growing up in a tight knit community burns this into your system.

Always Go To The Funeral
“Always go to the funeral” means that I have to do the right thing when I really, really don’t feel like it. I have to remind myself of it when I could make some small gesture, but I don’t really have to and I definitely don’t want to. I’m talking about those things that represent only inconvenience to me, but the world to the other guy. You know, the painfully under-attended birthday party. The hospital visit during happy hour. The Shiva call for one of my ex’s uncles. In my humdrum life, the daily battle hasn’t been good versus evil. It’s hardly so epic. Most days, my real battle is doing good versus doing nothing.”

you have to show up for people if you want them to show up for you

@karbonbased We did the same. Worked well for eggs not so much for nuts.

Nobody cares about this but sharing in case some or my followers have little ones going through early life allergies.
Our little man got diagnosed with an egg allergy around 2, we followed the exposure therapy and fed him baked goods with eggs in them for 2 years, happy to report we graduated to the next rung on the allergy ladder and he can now tolerate eggs as binder and less fully baked (pancakes, waffles, meatballs, meatloaf)
So far no reactions and he loves all those foods. Big win.
Next step after a year of this will be going to the allergist and having him eat straight egg under medical supervision.
🤞 we're on track to outgrow this allergy thanks to early intervention and exposure therapy.
