As someone who grew up with severely disabled siblings, if you want to abort your disabled child, I think that's fine. If you don't want to abort your disabled child, I think that's fine, too. What bothers me is people who have no experience on this weighing in like they have the slightest clue what they're talking about.

Hey republicans you want to help special needs children? Stop cutting their services and financial help. Build a foundation where help is easily available. Often one parent has to stop working with everything around going up in price. Expand childcare and pay the caretakers a decent living wage. Stop demonizing the programs that help by calling them socialist and call them necessary. The stress on many couples breaks them up so provide free therapy. This is really prolife. T21

If I were pregnant and informed that my fetus had Down syndrome I would absolutely abort. No amount of social media romanticizing of profound disability would change my mind. Contrary to popular opinion, you need more than love to care for a disabled child.

Choosing to terminate isn't always about a lack of love or being evil or whatever you want to call it. sometimes it’s a agonizing choice to prevent a child from facing a life of severe, unmanageable suffering. Thank you for coming to my ted talk and be kind

He was recently removed from a broken home by the state, and now he is sitting alone because no facility can handle him. This is the heavy reality parents have to consider. Special needs parenting on this level changes your entire existence.

People judging have no idea what the severe spectrum of these diagnoses actually looks like. I know someone in his 20s with Down syndrome who is completely nonverbal, has severe medical complications, and exhibits intense, unsafe behaviors.

Lots of judgment from people who have nothing to do with the couple who terminated after a Trisomy 21 diagnosis. Behind the viral discourse is a real family navigating a painful and personal situation. The hate is unnecessary. Extend some basic empathy.

@Kenneth_Belkin Do I look like I’m a part of the elite oligarch class. This was taken at a super 8 motel off I95 by the way.

I know it’s become pretty cliche and cringey to talk about at this point but if you’re under like 25 I cannot stress enough how one time Obama wore a tan suit and people spent a week arguing over whether or not it was demeaning to the Oval Office and they were serious about it.
