They didn't have the logistics or industrial capacity to send supplies to their land forces, how were they going to do it on water

No, they celebrate Christmas cause US made them celebrate it via missionary activities and made it a spending festival after the war via their occupation of Japan. It's a thrusted festival that has literally killed any indigious festivals. "KFC is the main course" -you quite literally explain it yourself. Same with South Korea. Why do you think it's not a big festival in North Korea, Vietnam, Thailand or China? Literally in the neighborhood of Japan and Korea but somehow the "fun holiday" could not permeate to the same extent?
