We were concerned about replacing Malanda but Morrison has probably been the best possible replacement.
Only 21 years old but looks like he’s been an MLS center back for quite a few years.
Wouldn’t surprise me if we lose him to a Championship team down the line as well.

@johnfyoungblood Agree with that, only thing is that Diani may not have had the speed to match their quickness in build up last night. They just came out flying

@lencornacchia If you commit numbers centrally including inverting a fullback into midfield it can get players who don’t look like they can progress the ball to have several options. And we do have a hard nose 6 (Diani) but Dean plays him as a free-roaming 8 which he’s not

@johnfyoungblood But who do we have to advance the ball centrally? That's the issue... BB? no, and Dean relies on Westy to cover the back, the combo of those two prevents the team from being able to do just that. If LDLT, he would need more of hard nose 6 to cover him, which we don't have.

@lencornacchia You can’t abandon central progression just because it’s taking more risk with the ball. By giving up central areas you’re only able to play long ball or have a pressing structure that can get you high turnovers. It’s limiting

@johnfyoungblood And as much as we love BBs grit & hustle, he contribute little in possession. So playing the ball through the middle with him and Westwood doesn’t work.

@lencornacchia They don’t they’re being made to look good by the system & the tactics. BJ has them playing intricate buildup and positionally so sound in & out of possession

@johnfyoungblood How would you have the team play then? We can’t press, trying that led to their third goal pretty quickly. Were a mid block team that normally plays up the wings.
