So proud of our Airforce and @NZDefenceForce crew. Today, I spoke to the pilot who was bringing back an injured US citizen from Antarctica. The crew landed on the ice, in the Antarctic winter ie in the dark, wearing night vision goggles in a 60 year old herc. This is one of the most dangerous operations and they did it with back up available from our Australian ally ( that was not called upon). Our one operational herc meant we needed back up - just in case! Thank you so much RNZAF. Excellent job done. 🇳🇿🇦🇺🇺🇸 working together.
