It’s time to build housing and transit, not data centres in the middle of Vancouver

This is correct. #Vancouver looks the way it does because city residents & activists blocked a plan to build a freeway along Beach ave. Also stopped the 4 seasons hotel from building towers at the entrance of Stanley Park.
Point is, we’ve done it before, we can do it again.

Vancouver historically has been very good at blocking new projects of all kinds. Over the years, this city’s nimbys have said no to bridges, transit expansions, highways, public housing, big box stores, the very notion of “density.” We can 100% shut this down

There's thousands of people who live on the streets in BC. We have some of the highest levels of income inequality and a fentanyl crisis killing more people every single day.
This is not only an environmental disaster but a middle finger to humanity itself

Remember, they’re telling you that you need to let your plants die so that we can put up a big water hungry noise generator in prime real-estate downtown.

Instead of building affordable homes, bringing down the costs of groceries, or securing our fresh water as droughts get worse — our government is celebrating a handout to TELUS to build AI data centres in the heart of Vancouver.
I talked w/ CBC about our core concerns👇 #bcpoli

The federal government, Westbank and TELUS have announced three new AI data centres in B.C., including two in Vancouver; one at West Georgia and Beatty, and the second in Mt. Pleasant. It's a multibillion-dollar investment in Canadian data sovereignty and our city. #vanpoli

@MarkJCarney You're straight up evil. Nobody wants this. Gutting social services, paying for war and data centers. Disgusting

@MarkJCarney Vancouver started stage 2 water restrictions in may this year. We had hundreds of seniors die under a heat dome a few years ago. Thousands of people live on the streets.
You just want us all to die?

Vancouver has droughts every summer to the point that summer fires are the norm and towns burn while residents already ration water usage.
