@phethani4 Go read something about the Southern African Customs Union & see how much @Lesotho's national budget relies on it. Close to 50%, and we, SA citizens, sponsor that. Add to that the economic cost of their citizens that illegally access our basic education, water, electricity, etc

Signed during apartheid and of course we know that it's under valued but you have black south africans saying that Lesotho is being unreasonable. Friere was correct. When education is not liberating the dream of the oppressed is just to become the new oppressor.

Lesotho 🇱🇸 wants to renegotiate its water deal with South Africa 🇿🇦 . Through the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, water flows from Lesotho to Gauteng, including Johannesburg. Right now, Lesotho earns about $200 million a year, around 10% of its economy. But the deal was signed in 1986, and Lesotho says it’s outdated. They now want higher royalties and better compensation. Talks are expected to begin in April 2026.
