U appeal to apostolic authority, but the apostles didnt leave defined canon, and early Christians disagreed. Christ gave authority to the apostles specifically Peter to lead the Church

No. The New Testament was written by messianic JEWS, and had been circulating for centuries before Nicaea slapped its approval on it. St. Jerome just COMPILED and translated the EXISTING texts, he didn’t WRITE the Bible. CREDITING him for authoring it is like saying the editor who bundles all Dr. Seuss books into one fancy volume 500 years from now secretly wrote every whimsical line himself.
