Hebrews 13:2 be not forgetful to entertain strangers for thereby some have entertained angels unawares

"The greatest piece of American art ever made is Absalom, Absalom." Wright Thompson says: "Faulkner gets something so essentially right about the South. It's a place where the conflict that exists inside the hearts of every human being is played out on the landscape in an external way that almost never happens. The South is one of the few places in the world where the interior becomes manifestly exterior. You know how they have energy vortexes in Sedona? Likewise, the South is one of those places where the thing cracks open and the big subterranean human ideas — the conflict in the heart of every human being burst into physical action on the actual physical land. William Faulkner could see that. He had that Sixth Sense. One of the reasons that book resonates with people across generations is that he's describing something you've instinctually felt but never had the vocabulary to describe."

@Startup_CFO_ @contramordor I ain’t reading all that. Live however you want to live. There’s fundamentalist Christian communities in the US right now you could go be a part of. Go spread the good word and win converts. No one’s stopping you. But you can’t, and won’t, force theocracy on America.

@Startup_CFO_ I’m curious, if you got your wish and established a theocracy in the US, who would be in charge? Christians or Catholics? Zionists or anti-semites? There will inevitably be power struggles between Christian factions. How will those be resolved?

@Startup_CFO_ Our rights do come from God. And it is functionally impossible to enforce a state religion w/o trampling the God-given rights of free speech/assembly/association, etc.

@Startup_CFO_ “False religions would be illegal.“ I’m not engaging with shit because that statement in your OP shows a fundamental disregard for human rights. If you don’t respect freedom of religion, you won’t respect other human rights. You’re making distinctions w/o a difference

Absolutely!!! Why are we STILL requiring students to take foreign language in high school when there is virtually no benefit. Do high schoolers become fluent in the foreign language? No. Does it have a high ROI on cognitive development and brain health? Also no. Students’ brains would benefit more from 60 minutes of aerobic exercise than from sitting in a foreign language class. Also, we all have translators in our pockets. This is one of the many requirements in education whose time has expired. Public ed must stop wasting students’ time.
