my dad had a sunglasses business. we’d pack up the car and drive to country fairs across the pacific northwest, set up a booth, and sell. blue blockers mostly. i was 8 years old. that was my first sales job. i used to be mortified by it honestly. watching my friends have normal weekends while i was learning how to make eye contact with strangers and not flinch when they said no. my dad never let me quit mid-pitch. you finish what you start, you smile, and you try again. i didn’t know it at the time but he was teaching me everything. how to read a room. how to make something simple feel essential. how to believe in what you’re selling hard enough that the person across from you starts to believe it too. took me twenty years to stop being embarrassed about those fairs and start being grateful for them. now i’m building @UseArtisan and closing a fundraising round and every single day it feels like a country fair booth with higher stakes. same skills. different product. @doranmaul what’s your origin story?
