@zack_gilbert I must be way older than you as my early 2nd Amdmnt learning includes the 1689 English law, Dred Scott, U.S. v. Miller, & Printz v. U.S. as the Supreme Court decision on District of Columbia v. Heller was adjudicated in 2008, well after I graduated with my undergrad degrees.

@lgtobin Agree. My perspective in Bill of Rights (doesn't grant but recognizes rights) the Right to Keep & Bear Arms is fundamental to all other rights. Am heartened that we have a Supreme Court that reads the constitution as I do, & as taught to me in grade school.

Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally sit down & rest. Freedom is the continuous action we must all take & each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society. #vote

@zack_gilbert @TheAlaskaDems Standard test scores in AK rise and fall with the purchasing power of the BSA. Disparaging trained researchers who sign IRB agreements to ethical research does not negate the salience of their research. And I went to my junior prom in New Hampshire, it was definitely not Alaska.

@lgtobin @TheAlaskaDems Sorry, but test scores have been eroding for many years, beginning far earlier than 2016. Studies done by people on gov subsidy are going to recommend more gov spending. Take a look at the State of New Hampshire: doing without actually bring better government.

Across Alaska, schools are shutting down, teachers and staff are losing their jobs, and students are suffering – all because Gov. Dunleavy doesn’t value education funding. This November, we have the power to change that by electing a #vetoproofmajority.

@zack_gilbert @TheAlaskaDems Yup - inflation eroded purchasing power & test scores went down and in 2016 students began opting out of testing - including most of our correspondence kids (only 14% take the tests). Majority of studies say, increase funding and see better scores. chalkbeat.org/2023/5/16/2372…

@TheAlaskaDems Nope. In AK funding per student seems to be inversely correlated with standardized test performance. Don't know why but that is a fact. Oil production has dropped 80 percent so no one should expect funding to grow, even in nominal dollars.
