In the past 30 days, Idris Robinson, a philosopher at Texas State University, Shirin Saeidi, a political scientist at the University of Arkansas, and Aris Fani, a scholar of Persian Studies at the University of Washington, have all been fired for speaking about the wars.
Laila Al-Arian@LailaAlarian

The University of Washington appears to have removed a professor, Aria Fani, from his position as director of the Middle East Center because he criticized Israel and stated that the claim that Iran was pursuing a nuclear weapon was untrue.

In the 1940s, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar was committed to his teaching role at the University of Chicago, despite being based at the Yerkes Observatory. Each week, he traveled 80 miles to teach a special course attended by only two students. The students were Tsung-Dao Lee and Chen-Ning Yang. They proved their mentor's faith was well-placed when they both won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957, years before Chandrasekhar received the same honor in 1983. Remarkably, this course went down in history as the only one where every attendee received a Nobel Prize, underscoring the extraordinary impact of Chandrasekhar's dedication and teaching. 📷 AIP Emilio Segrè Visual Archives, Physics Today Collection

A willful misreading of Ignatiev — the whole point is the assimilation to a hegemonic whiteness that is operative over and above ethnic difference. American whiteness was created, and is not the same as the whiteness that the Irish for instance occupied before

Here's Eric Foner on the Noel Ignatiev "whiteness" thesis on which Nikole Hannah Jones based her NYT op ed arguing the way to understand Renee Good and Alex Pretti is as "race traitors"
