Hi friends! First time posting here since the pandemic. Over the past 10 years: left Apple, designed the first Oculus Quest, led product and brand design at Caffeine, then went independent. I run a design studio now called Our Mutual Friend. What did I miss? 🙃

2¢ — I think it hurts creators and companies to elicit AI aversion, let alone for people to experience it constantly. Looking away can mean missing an insight or some hidden value, but I'm not convinced that self-protection is a personal deficiency for users to fix.

Whenever I see AI stylistic saturation at play (tiny text, "not this, it's that") my nervous system responds as if it's fending off an invader

Star Wars was religion when I was a kid, so we watched A New Hope with my 4yo for the first time for Mother’s Day. He cried when the Death Star exploded, then yelled “yay!” when he realized Vader got away… should I be worried cc @settern @reneritchie

I did a Hack Week project on Highlights at Medium. Inline text selection as instant save and signal — like Genius, SoundCloud, Kindle. I'd love this as AI and OS standard. Right now key text gets lost in a sea, or pasted out. Would be smart to save core memories inline for free.

Lately I’ve been watching my children play with physical pixels and going to the AI-inspired ballet with friends. Neither of these are nature, both are wonderful

To be clear, I’m not high-roading anyone — I’m catching up on X and rewatching Season 1 of Succession, because even that now feels quaint and gentle

Initial observation on being back: oh wow this is definitely 1:1 with LinkedIn on AI being the 99% discussed topic. How are we all feeling? How is touching grass going for everyone here 🍃☀️

@lianaps Thank you! I’m actually rebuilding it from scratch - learned a lot since I launched it last year, and adding everything I wished I could have done the first time around is only getting easier and easier. What a crazy time.
