Nope can’t be flat tax rate. Has to be progressive. Flat taxes are regressive. They hit regular earners harder. same for small businesses. This is what always kills me about libertarians. They want a particular outcome, but do not know how to achieve it. Allowing high earners and a big corporations to pass by with a flat tax rate, only provides them with higher wealth and political power.
We need to expand the capital gains tax, not reduce it. We need to expand it to unrealized capital gains. Many people who corrupt our political system hoard their wealth in stocks.
We have independent agencies that are intended to look for fraud and corruption. The FTC, and the SEC. Maybe we stop electing people to tell us they won’t use government on behalf of the people?
English

@liberpopulus91 @AmyInNHTheReal1 @PatrioticMills Tax flat rate for all. Maybe a bit for amazing earners. No taxes on assets. Capital gains fixed at 20% or lower. No croney capitalism.
Also, an independent to identify corruption and fraud.

We’re told billionaires will flee if we tax them.
But Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang—worth over $150 Billion—says even the “highest taxes in the world” are fine with him.
Why? Because talent, opportunity, and community matter more than tax rates. fortune.com/2026/04/23/jen…

@FEEInc @AmyInNHTheReal1 @PatrioticMills Correct! That’s what neo-Brandeisianism is about.
Tax rates are part of that. Higher top rates, corporate in particular, discourage extractive behavior and encourage a level playing field where competition can flourish.
English

@liberpopulus91 @AmyInNHTheReal1 @PatrioticMills I have read Smith, Locke, Hobbes, and Marx. And yes, security and property are a part of the government's function. Also, the idea is to offer markets where the rules favor a level playing field - not participants.

@Alosalo443846 @MW4Liberty I figured. Just checking. And, right on. 🍻
English

@liberpopulus91 @MW4Liberty Yes; the ones for “Liberty” and what not
English

@Alosalo443846 @MW4Liberty I’m assuming this is directed at the original post and not me? Lol
English

@liberpopulus91 @MW4Liberty Oh, by the way, this is what was going on with JetBlue this quarter

English

@RepThomasMassie @iheartmindy @dzynrbob @ThomasEWoods You need better understanding then Mr. Massie.
English

@iheartmindy @dzynrbob @ThomasEWoods My understanding is the deal fell apart after the prior administration blocked it for so long. In other words, enough has changed such that the merger they wanted to complete in 2023 no longer makes sense. I assume their assets will now be sold to partially cover their debts.
English

@MikeBuongimsmy @JohnFeehery In all seriousness, these are people you should read and follow to actually know what is going on. Unless you like just throwing your opinion around on the internet. Then you do you.

The shareholders were wrong. What aren’t you getting? FFS man.
For one, the merger was ILLEGAL. Should we just not enforce laws? Ones that are illegal but inconvenient?
Two, they had a deal. They had the frontier deal. They didn’t take it. Why didn’t they take it? Their own CEO and board wanted to take it. Why are you defending shareholder greed to a fault?
Do you even know anything about the case? And why the judge ruled the way he did? I mean it’s clear you don’t. You should look it up. The overall market wasn’t the concern. It was the shorter routes/lines. They would have been clearly dominant.
You just think “merger good”. How has that gone? Deregulation has been a nightmare. It’s something we have to deal with.
Jet Blue would have been bankrupt by going through that merger btw.
English

@CubsKatie @MW4Liberty Katie, I’m impressed you can type and keep his dick in your mouth at the same time.
English

@liberpopulus91 @MW4Liberty I mean, you're the one who brought it up. It seems like you actually care a lot.
English

Spirit Airlines tried to merge with Jet Blue.
A merger that would have ensured solid financial footing, continued operations, and all those jobs.
But the Biden Administration and Pete Buttigieg blocked the merger. Bragged about blocking it even.
So now, a brand dies. Thousands of jobs evaporate. And as always, the government bureaucrats who caused the problem, suffer the least consequences.
I hope former Spirit Airlines and customers remember.
English

@MW4Liberty 🤷🏻♂️.
Also, Spirit had a merger with Frontier! It would have gotten through. The shareholders chose the very obviously illegal Jet Blue hostile takeover merger. Just say you don’t know what you’re talking about.

English

@liberpopulus91 You mean after the Biden doj filed suit? Haha yeah it’s totally not the Biden admins doing at all.
English

@MikeBuongimsmy @JohnFeehery The industry itself is doomed. It’s the natural conclusion of the journey of “deregulation”. Read Basel, Doug, and Lee. They’re quite good.
English

@liberpopulus91 @JohnFeehery No mental gymnastics whatsoever. The shareholders, the owners of the company, wanted the Jet Blue merger. The Board was against it, the government blocked it, and an airline is dead.
The super-low fares concept didn’t work. Merging with Frontier to keep that model was doomed.
English

@MW4Liberty @CubsKatie I don’t give a shit if you’re maga or not. You’re wrong, and that’s all that matters.
English

@CubsKatie @liberpopulus91 These people can’t see past their own binary world view.
English

@CubsKatie @MW4Liberty The libertarian infiltration of the MAGA movement has been widely noted in the second Trump administration. So, potato/potahdo
English

@liberpopulus91 @MW4Liberty Michael White isn't a MAGA influencer. He's mostly a Libertarian.
English

@MikeBuongimsmy @JohnFeehery And Lee. You should learn about the industry before you talk! We have a bigger problem on our hands than one failed airline!
Lee Hepner@LeeHepner
In 2023, @WilliamJMcGee and I published an article called “Reregulate,” citing *200* airline bankruptcies within the first decade of Airline Deregulation. This industry has been in crisis for a half century, and the takeaway from deregulation is that it only has itself to blame.

JetBlue wasn't rescuing anyone by the way. It had already handed 75% of its capacity to American Airlines. Its CEO testified under oath that buying Spirit was just the next step toward acquiring Alaska Airlines. This was a consolidation spree, not a lifeline.
