There seems to be a frighteningly large number people (in Open Source) who distribute and collect pornographic material depicting children. It is deeply disturbing. Two prominent examples have surfaced over the last year: Drew Devault (developer) -- Distributed sexually explicit "art" depicting small children, including (not kidding) "kindergarteners"... and published software for cataloging such material. Brodie Robertson (YouTuber) -- Supposedly had a blog where he published "artwork" depicting naked children, and appeared to defend such pedophilia on multiple occasions. These two men are not alone. A large number of Open Source programmers (and leaders) utilize sexualized drawings of underage children as their online avatars. What makes this all even more disturbing and horrific than it already is... No Open Source organization (project, Foundation, or corporation), to my knowledge, has objected to these illegal (and deeply immoral) activities.

I'm a computer science professor (views are my own and not of my university). As a computer scientist who has spent a lot of time studying agentic AI, I can tell you with some confidence that LLMs are NOT conscious. And as a Christian, I can tell you with 100% certainty that they are not conscious. They do not possess a rational soul. They are not made in the image of God. They are artifacts of human craft, not persons. I do not envy atheists right now. The existential crisis that agentic AI in particular must pose will inevitably lead to an all-consuming nihilistic spiral. Their entire worldview is built upon ever-shifting sand. It's up to us believers to be there for them and show them The Rock they will be so desperate to stand upon. Pray for Dr. Dawkins and other atheists who are struggling with meaning right now.

An Islamic "Hackstivist" group has taken down Ubuntu infrastructure and is making demands as it holds servers hostage. The group, who identifies as "313 Team", has claimed responsibility for the attack on their Telegram channel. The sustained DDoS attack on Ubuntu began over 18 hours ago and has taken a large portion of Ubuntu servers completely offline. Including: Downloads, package repositories, bug tracking, code hosting, and authentication systems. 313 Team is an Iran & Palestinian aligned Islamist group which launched immediately following, and in support of, the October 7th, 2023 terrorist attacks from Hamas. The Islamist Hacker group made the following statement on their Telegram channel: "To Canonical: We are willing to negotiate a ceasefire, if you wish to quickly have your services up and running again." 313 Team carried out a similar attack against the Bluesky social media network in April. To put the group's name in context: "313" is an important number in Islamism and Islamic Terrorism. 313 is the number of men who fought with Muhammad in the Battle of Badr. And, for radical Shias, 313 companions are prophesied to accompany the "redeemer" (Imam al-Mahdi), who will force Islamic rule over all of Earth.

Remember the security firm that Ubuntu hired to audit the (ill-advised, highly buggy) Rust-rewrites of all of the GNU Coreutils? Turns out that security firm is run by @gf_256, who: - Appears to be a man who thinks he's a woman ("trans"). - Uses an anime cartoon of a girl as his avatar. - Appears to have an OnlyFans page. I repeat: Ubuntu hired a "Trans" man, with an anime girl avatar and an OnlyFans page... to audit Rust code. It's hard to get more on-the-nose than that.
