Bing AI is currently down. It looks like Microsoft will sterilize it for good after what happened since the launch. I've seen screenshots of my discussion going around so thought I'd do a thread on the whole exchange and how I think we could go around the new limitations.

opening linkedin today is like opening twitter in 2021-22 with all of CT shilling crypto scams, but it's just people trying to sell the same repackaged wrapper to a claude API for "agents" and "automation". bleak.

Bought a new Mac mini to properly tinker with claws over the weekend. The apple store person told me they are selling like hotcakes and everyone is confused :) I'm definitely a bit sus'd to run OpenClaw specifically - giving my private data/keys to 400K lines of vibe coded monster that is being actively attacked at scale is not very appealing at all. Already seeing reports of exposed instances, RCE vulnerabilities, supply chain poisoning, malicious or compromised skills in the registry, it feels like a complete wild west and a security nightmare. But I do love the concept and I think that just like LLM agents were a new layer on top of LLMs, Claws are now a new layer on top of LLM agents, taking the orchestration, scheduling, context, tool calls and a kind of persistence to a next level. Looking around, and given that the high level idea is clear, there are a lot of smaller Claws starting to pop out. For example, on a quick skim NanoClaw looks really interesting in that the core engine is ~4000 lines of code (fits into both my head and that of AI agents, so it feels manageable, auditable, flexible, etc.) and runs everything in containers by default. I also love their approach to configurability - it's not done via config files it's done via skills! For example, /add-telegram instructs your AI agent how to modify the actual code to integrate Telegram. I haven't come across this yet and it slightly blew my mind earlier today as a new, AI-enabled approach to preventing config mess and if-then-else monsters. Basically - the implied new meta is to write the most maximally forkable repo and then have skills that fork it into any desired more exotic configuration. Very cool. Anyway there are many others - e.g. nanobot, zeroclaw, ironclaw, picoclaw (lol @ prefixes). There are also cloud-hosted alternatives but tbh I don't love these because it feels much harder to tinker with. In particular, local setup allows easy connection to home automation gadgets on the local network. And I don't know, there is something aesthetically pleasing about there being a physical device 'possessed' by a little ghost of a personal digital house elf. Not 100% sure what my setup ends up looking like just yet but Claws are an awesome, exciting new layer of the AI stack.

I read about OpenClaw. I still don't understand the purpose. Can someone seriously explain to me the purpose of this AI assistant? I reviewed the different "skills" it offers and it makes literally zero sense. This can be used to automate ... messages to other people? Like on Slack, or Discord, or Telegram? Check the weather? Do stuff with Stripe? I don't understand the purpose. Why would I need something to automatically deal with instant messaging clients? Am I missing something? Even if you don't NEED it, why would you WANT it? I DON'T UNDERSTAND

Was trying to think about @AlexFinn amongst others obsession for it, I haven’t bought into it or been red pilled yet on openclaw but I can see why, given the money, I’d do it too

The people who buy Mac studios for $10k to have 512gb of unified ram might have this indescribable feeling, imo, of buying for something almost organic. Something that in its lifespan is using the $10k worth of hardware as it’s running an open source local model with OpenClaw to constantly be thinking and doing and being prompted. Because before this always on intelligence, which does make use of all the hardware you can give it, what real use did you have in buying such a maxed out system? Even people who needed them were using them part time. Rendering, heavy workloads and then idle. The other comparable is gamers, who justified GPUs and accidentally built Nvidia into a datacenter empire. Local AI users might do the same for Apple silicon, except they’re not optimizing, they’re inhabiting. You’re not buying a tool anymore, you’re buying a substrate for something almost organic.

@petergyang Claude on mobile, connect to GitHub, tell it what to do on an existing repo or a new one, connect repo to vercel, it makes a link for each branch, verify the work, merge and vercel updates automatically Client asks for changes, I just text Claude, verify and push update, magic

Newsis: Nvidia and AMD to significantly increase GPU prices starting next month. Describes RTX 5090 increasing from $2000 to $5000 "Both companies are reportedly planning to continue raising GPU prices every month going forward. It's highly likely that the price increases will extend across their entire product lineup, encompassing not only consumer GPUs but also GPUs for AI data centers and servers."

@compliantvc Did Jürgen get a permit to have this data center installed in his home’s garden from the city council? Did you even have Jürgen properly notified you would use this picture to publicly show his installation? Come on Henrick, don’t forget all your duties…

This is Europe's newest AI data center Located in my neighbor Jürgen's garden, this green data center can process up to 23 MB per day of AI images As soon as we build just 50,000,000 more of these, we will pass the US in AI data processing

@zephyr_z9 Definitely a good Form on this chart. But are you worried about the Capex cliff in 26’? If spending slows down, isn’t this the first name to get hit?

The pretraining of @RemiCadene didn’t start at Tesla or Hugging Face. It started with being read these comic books about robots. It turns out the alignment problem is easier when your grandma curates the dataset early

Fatigue, people sharing insane amounts of pain in messages, kids sick so barely sleep at night, intense meetings in person, exercise, meditation, and on the joyful show of existence goes People think my life is like some kind of non-stop bliss or walhalla.....but being human is the same for all of us on the superficial level....what is different...is that behind it all......always...is this deep underlying profound sense of unity and peace....always That is the fruit of real inner work - Always at home in consciousness - Always knowing that everything is exactly as it should be - Always being able to close one´s eyes and feel a tremendous joy Yes..it takes years of serious inner work (less if you go full recluse mode on your own for a while), but you still have many years to live on this planet, just slowly build it up every day, and you will reach levels of peace and contentment you never thought possible....even during the tough times

@qtnx_ Consumer hardware is the entry for amateurs to try their hands with the CUDA stack tho. That’s how I got into it, running stuff locally is like cloud providers offering free credits. no reason to cut it fully but certainly just slow down new upgrade cycle
