🙌 #AB2585 was signed into law by @GavinNewsrom in CA this week. The Pain Patient Bill of Rights has been modernized to allow health plan & insurers to cover FDA approved non-addictive pains treatment options like immersive therapeutics to be an option for chronic pain patients.

Yesterday, California's Senate Health Committee passed a bill, #AB2585, which will amend the Pain Patients' Bill of Rights to include access to medical devices! Thank you to the bill's author @AsmKevinMcCarty and to Chairman @DrPanMD for helping people who live with chronic pain.

@Nursing_Heretic @justinmaykel So glad to see this string and discussion. This is what has to change. People in the role of patient are not generally stupidly awaiting the person with an MD after their name to dictate how they get information! Fix auto email or text - not control!

@justinmaykel For some folks the anxiety of “not knowing” is more disabling or distressing than knowing bad news. They can process and grieve in private instead of having audience. They can formulate their questions before return to the office. Or they can choose to wait to find out.

Called a patient today to tell them their colonoscopy biopsies showed cancer. Patient already knew—got an automated alert earlier in the day and read the results on the online medical record. At home, alone. This new law granting access to test results is a BIG problem.

Maybe the company I hate the most - why when @AT&T switches to fiber in the hood they call all happy like it’s a benefit then schedule time to “trade out your modem” and spend 3 days rewiring the entire neighborhood??
