Slightly different mechanisms. Remote Viewing is when you detach consciousness from your dimensional anchor (your body), so that it access the quantum information field. In this state you can project an intent (called a target). When you do, your consciousness becomes entangled with information in the field pertaining to that target, allowing your consciousness to access and extract that information. Astral Travel is when you detach your spirit (not just your consciousness, from your dimensional anchor, and travel there “in spirit”, allowing for a more exploratory and interactive experience. Whereas remote viewing is merely non-local information gathering (like querying a vast database), astral travel is local (like taking a tour), but outside the bounds of the physical dimension (time and space). Remote viewing is easier to achieve and doesn’t carry the same risks, because you’re actually there, and as such, cannot be “intercepted”. With Astral Travel, because you’re “local” you can interact more, but can also be “interacted with” by entities who are either similarly inter-dimensional, or are likewise projecting their astral state locally as well.

The document is real. But “real document” does not mean “validated physics.” Gateway is interesting as a Cold War attempt to model altered consciousness as information access, but the leap from binaural beats to spacetime transcendence is doing a lot of unearned work. A frequency difference like Δf = |fR − fL| may entrain attention or relaxation states. That is very different from proving consciousness → outside spacetime. Schumann resonance is real. Remote viewing programs were real. The military curiosity was real. But the evidence chain is not the same as the storytelling chain. The serious takeaway is not “CIA proved consciousness leaves the universe.” It is this: consciousness was already being treated as an interface between brain dynamics, information geometry, and perception control. That part is worth studying. The rest needs much stronger math than mythology.

That's a deep question, with a complicated answer. According to prophecy (across cultures, religions, geographies, and dispensations), it's can be that disrupting to the unprepared human psyche. This is why (or one of the reasons) disclosure has not happened, and why controlled disclosure is now necessary.
