This is not a post slamming DMG in any way and I want to be VERY clear about that before saying anything further. I am still grieving and simply wanted to share my perspective regarding this tweet. That said, I have been thinking about DMG's tweet a lot this past week. This tweet changed my perspective on Marathon completely and thought "you know what? I love Bungie's gunplay so much, I am going to give this a shot no matter what. And if I don't like it, oh well." because I am a firm believer in supporting the studio that makes your favourite game by way of "if Marathon does well, Destiny will do well." I am not saying I dislike Marathon, but it will, in all likelihood, never be my main. I am not a huge PVP gamer (major skill issue lol) and with my limited playtime available to me, got fairly skill gapped in Season 1. Progression was difficult for me and again, not the best PVPer. Will Season 2 be different? We shall see, I will be trying it for a bit for sure. Now, I have heard on more than one occasion that "If I knew they were pulling the plug on Destiny, I would have never bought Marathon." I think thats where some of this "F Marathon" rhetoric is coming from, from the non-bungie creator player base. A lot of the streamers got gifted Marathon by way of being part of the creator program. People like me, who never made creator, wanted to buy the game to try my best to support the studio that made my favourite game. Now that Destiny will no longer continue, mere months after the 'delay' for Shadow and Order was announced and Marathon's launch, it feels pretty bad. I still remain optimistic that one day we will see a Destiny 3, but for now I am a little 'sour grapes' myself as well. Not saying I am going to boycott Marathon or anything like that but still, the main driver behind my purchase feels a little cheapened now. That all said, I do want Marathon to succeed because if it doesn't, who knows what Bungie's future looks like. And Bungie ceasing to exist is a scary thought. Again, nothing against DMG here but I totally get where people are coming from who did the same as me, trying to support the studio who made their favourite game because: Marathon will continue. Destiny will not. 💔

I’m gonna say something a LOTTA people won’t like to hear Marathon (2026) has significantly more sauce than nearly ANY game from the last decade. Marathon OOZES style that so many other games & companies can barely get even a fraction of.

I’m a small platform, but my marathon posting usually has a lot of… uh interactions. And its mainly all negative, and super discouraging. Especially when I just want to share the excitement of a game that’s special to me with folks. I don’t often do a good job of deescalating the haters in my comments, as there’s really only so much negativity I can take. But the marathon vs destiny discourse is tiring. Both games deserve to exist and do well. And both games have a plethora of passionate devs behind them. I want to support both communities. But the destiny folks coming into my comments just to be hateful, reeeeeally makes me not want to support their efforts to revive the game. If you have an utter hatred for marathon, whatever, but please stop commenting on every marathon post you come across. Thank you

This will be a trend for ever season in Marathon. As the bulk of players reach end game. More will take a break until the next wipe. Who thought it was a great idea to cancel Destiny 2? Both games could supplement each other. But yet... now one game is jealous of the other. And ine game is in fear of the other's wrath.

C'est la saison de la dernière chance pour Marathon. Si elle ne séduit pas les joueurs cette fois, c'est la mort assurée pour cette licence et peut être pour Bungie. Personnellement, je passe, même gratuit.
