Fed balance sheet to fight inflation 1. Twist composition to shorter forcing treasury to issue more duration to the private sector. Concrete step. Stop buying notes and bonds greater than 5 year maturity in the runoff reinvestment policy. 2. Ample reserves is fine for god sakes stop balance sheet size is fine 3. BUT reserves balances are unevenly distributed. Fix that by various means (I have suggestions) so excess reserves in the biggest banks can be withdrawn.

Fed should cut short term interest rates by 50bp AND stop increasing its balance sheet AND stop reinvesting runoff proceeds in notes and bonds maturing 7 years and longer AND the Treasury should increase issuance in longer term treasuries in substantially excess of what the Fed stops buying
