@Futuremanbrexit Me and most of my friends would have had juvenile records if we’d had phones in the ‘90s! My school couldn’t stop kids taking heroine on site, burning mobile classrooms down or getting pregnant, I think phones would have been the least of their worries tbh.

Imagine if mobile phones had existed at the time… Do you think your school in the 70s or 80s would have allowed them in school time? Not a chance at mine!!!!

@TheSmilingGrape @iamChigoo Pleased to hear - I think a difference here is that most hospitals birthing units are built around that sort of thing in the UK as birth is midwife led. I only saw a doctor to be stitched after.

@limeyxlimey @iamChigoo My mom is a registered nurse here in the US and she said mothers have the option to give birth squatting if they want. She helped deliver a number of those.

Women give birth lying on their backs today because, back in the day, a European king had a weird f£tish for watching women’s private parts while they delivered. He supp0sedly made them lie down with legs spread open so he could get a better view. Hmm, what do you think about this ? 🤔

Dear Gen X, I’ve been watching 80s movies and I just need to know…WHERE WERE YOUR PARENTS?? Every child was just wandering the earth unsupervised like a raccoon with house keys. Riding bikes across town at midnight, fighting ghosts, investigating murders, befriending cryptids, hacking government computers for funsies… And the parents were ALWAYS “out of town” or “working late” while the only adult-adjacent supervision was some random 16-year-old who got dragged into the chaos. No cell phones. No helmets. No adult supervision. Just vibes, life lessons, and several near-death experiences. You all weren’t “raised.” You were lightly monitored feral creatures with a bike and unresolved trauma. I’m genuinely shocked there are enough of you left to populate an entire generation.

@NoFilterSkin knew I wasn’t interested in boys the same way as my friends around 8. I’ve got great family, super stable home, never been abused or even had a negative interaction with a man. Been a lesbian since I knew I could be at 12. No social media, hell no media (‘80s/‘90s) influence

@james_xond Went out and rode bikes, fished, explored (caused trouble), read a book, had hobbies… and sometimes we were just bored. I think kids now could do with a little empty boredom rather than the constant over stimulation.

@BpdLion In ‘86 I had my birthday at a McDonalds. My fam had restaurant dinners once a month and takeaway at least the same. Maccies, KFC and Wimpy certainly existed. We were low income working class but still did that. People remember the ‘80s like it was the ‘50s.

@supertolerant I was born in ‘79, my parents had blue collar jobs… we ate out once a month, had a Chinese or KFC about the same. Don’t know what version of the ‘80s and ‘90s other people were in. Maybe it’s cos we’re greater Londoners. By the ‘90s we had a Wimpy or KFC once a week.

I was young in the 80s/90s in the UK. I don’t remember my parents ever going out to eat, except when we were on holiday (in the UK). I don’t think they ever took me to a fast food restaurant, or ordered takeaway food. People today have no clue how working people lived. /1
Raven@raven_brah

Boomers seem to forget that fast food used to be a normal, everyday expense for them because it was affordable. You could get a burger easily on minimum wage, it wasn’t some fancy treat you had once a year as a reward for pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.

@lordvictor She literally lives on an island at the edge of the world minding her own business and MEN come to kill her and die in the process. She literally gets home invaded regularly. Men are too dumb to leave her be. It’s all in the myth; raped, maimed, exiled yet still hounded.

@JamesMelville I looked at a GLP-1 but won’t spend that. Instead I got an app, went from (way too many) calories a day to 2K, then 1600, then 1400 and now 1200 over the last 54 days and I’m down 20lb and 5inches round my waist. Bit tougher but it’s my path. If GLP-1 is yours go for it.

@godblesstoto No it wasn’t. I’m Gen X (-and yes it was a treat) but there were certainly McD’s, KFC, Burger King and Wimpy in every town and city. I had my 7th birthday in McDonalds. Stop pretending they popped up in the 90s or something.

Why do these people not know what time period boomers were born in? My parents were boomers and they never ate McDonald's in their lives. As a Gen X'er (the best era imo) I grew up through the 80's and it most certainly wasn't a regular thing. We occasionally got something from the chip shop at the end of our street, but that was a treat. That's the closest thing to fast food we had 😂

There’s a growing trend of parents intentionally raising their kids like it’s the late 90s again. No iPads. No algorithm. Just bikes, VHS tapes, books, outside play, family dinners, and boredom that forces kids to actually use their imagination. Id love to know where they’re getting these VHS tapes?

@Rothbury01669 I’m 46 (almost 47) and there were definitely KFC, McDonalds etc when I was a kid. I had my 7th birthday with Ronald 🤡it was cheap BUT it was a treat now and again. But there were definitely chain fast food joints when you were a kid - UKs own Wimpy too.

I'm 53 poppet. There were no McDonald's KFC or Dominoes when I was a kid When I went to comprehensive school my art class teacher asked who'd had Lasagne. A third of the class put their hands up. I didn't even know what it was You're deluded
