Cyrus fell asleep for the last time yesterday. I write this in absolute silence. The apartment that was too small for him now feels smaller in his absence. He is everywhere even though he isn’t. When I hear a knock, I expect his bark but it is going to be quiet from now on.

I was feeling so envious of young people who quit their jobs without things figured out when I realized I did too at 27! Quit my career as an architect, left my country, stayed in a backpacker's hostel and lived off of canned tuna! Missing a time when I wasn't aware of a higher standard of living 😆

my dog fucking died n work is only giving me 3 hours to drive my mother to cremate her. my mom lives an hour away. this dog has been in my life longer than not.

I volunteer at a dog shelter. Most dogs are not themselves when you first meet them. They're scared, chaotic, unsure. But most of them come out of their shells within 10 mins, becoming silly and playful again. Not even the biggest betrayal dulls their shine. We must do better.
