We are forced to sit with two opposing truths at the same time. One is that the people of Iran have been held prisoner for nearly half a century by the Islamic Regime. We’ve seen our country destroyed, our loved ones killed. So many Iranians are celebrating any force that helps remove the regime.
The other is that the U.S. and Israel are not humanitarian nations guided by morality, and no good has ever come from their military attacks on the Middle East or any other region.
Foreign nations could have expelled Iranian diplomats, deported the children of the mullahs, frozen their assets, and armed the Iranian people. None of this happened. Instead, bombs. One hundred and eight schoolgirls dead.
Iranians need to remember that foreign nations are motivated by interests, not by care for our people. If Khamenei served Western interests, he would still be alive and protected regardless of the blood on his hands. War is devastating and the damage is irreversible. All we can do right now is hope for the best outcome while staying skeptical. Iran’s authority and future belong to Iranians, not foreign-installed puppets.
